DFES has issued a storm advice as tonight things may get a bit wild on the weather front. If you need some assistance rember the brigades mates at the SES are there to help. Take care everyone.

The brigade is asking people to check and secure your burn piles ahead of the forecast wind with the incoming front, although it's green out there it is still very dry. We have had 2 call outs for escaped burns in the last 2 days, it only takes one ember and it's away

โš ๏ธ NO BURNING ALLOWED TODAY! โš ๏ธ

Attention that live in the Shire - the Fire Danger Rating for today (Monday 11 May 2026) is HIGH, which means:

๐Ÿšซ No burning is allowed, and all Permits to Burn are cancelled.

๐Ÿšจ Thereโ€™s a heightened risk. Be alert for fires in your area - if one starts, your life and property may be at risk.

For the latest alerts and Fire Danger Ratings for your area, refer to Emergency WA ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.emergency.wa.gov.au/

โš ๏ธ Unrestricted Burning Period starts Monday 27 April 2026 โš ๏ธ

During the Unrestricted Burning Period, you may burn without a permit, and Winter is an ideal time to prepare your property for the next fire season. Hereโ€™s what you need to know:

๐Ÿ“ž All burns must be registered with DFES via (08) 9395 9209

๐Ÿ”” You must notify your neighbours of your burn prior to lighting up

โŽ Due to smoke, no burning is allowed on land under 2000m2

๐Ÿšง Burns must be conducted in an area surrounded by firebreaks

๐Ÿ‘ค You must be present and in control of the burn at all times (preferably 2 able-bodied adults at minimum for the full duration), and have the ability to extinguish the fire at any moment through water or manual methods

๐ŸŒฟ Donโ€™t burn damp, wet or green material (causes excessive smoke)

๐Ÿงฏ If your burn-off causes smoke to blow across public roads and reduce visibility, you must immediately extinguish the fire

Remember, no burning is allowed if the Fire Danger Rating is High or above, or a Total Fire Ban has been declared, regardless of the burning period. It is your legal responsibility to check prior to undertaking any burn (health legislation is also still applicable).

Dates are subject to change due to seasonal conditions or unpredictable circumstances. Speak with your local Fire Control Officer for further support and advice - contact details are available in the Fire Prevention Order which you can view on the Shire website, along with other safe burning and fire prevention resources ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.donnybrook-balingup.wa.gov.au/services/fire-emergency-management
