Don’t be alarmed.

This is one sound you definitely can't ignore! 😲📱

Your phone will vibrate, play a loud siren-like sound and light up with the alert.

Goomalling will be the first location in WA to test AusAlert on 19 June at 12pm, followed by a National Test across Australia on 27 July.

So there's no confusion, this alert is not sent through the Emergency WA app or any other emergency app. AusAlert is a new federal government initiative that forms part of Australia's nationally operated emergency alert system, designed to deliver warnings during serious emergencies.

If the trials are successful, states and territories can opt in to using AusAlert from October, depending on local requirements.

Every now and then an old newspaper clipping surfaces featuring our brigade, and it’s always good for a bit of a trip down memory lane.

Of all the firefighters in this photo, only Kris is still serving with the brigade. Since then, he’s risen through the ranks to become Deputy Chief Fire Control Officer and has earned Life Membership along the way.

As for the brigade, not much has changed really… apart from Bakers Hill’s population growing, a new 3.4 appliance, a proper station at the other end of the same street, and the occasional open day where the good old sausage sizzle remains as popular as ever.

The more things change, the more some things stay exactly the same.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of being invited to Bakers Hill Primary School for Thank A First Responder Day.

We would like to thank the school for inviting us, also the gorgeous card made by the kids, and members had a wonderful time.

Just a side note: two of our firefighters that attended are ex Bakers Hill Primary School students.

Today, on Thank a First Responder Day, we recognise and thank the incredible people who are there when our communities need them most.

First responders are more than just volunteer and career firefighters. They are our Marine Rescue volunteers, RAC Rescue helicopter crews, SES volunteers, Police officers, Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors, and countless others who answer the call in times of need.

Whether they serve on the frontline, in the air, on the water, on the road, or in our hospitals, their dedication, professionalism, and commitment help keep our communities safe every day.

No matter the uniform or vocation, we appreciate the sacrifices made by first responders and their families.

To all first responders – thank you for your service, your compassion, and your unwavering commitment to helping others.

🚒 Thursday night training done and dusted! 🚒

This week our members got hands-on learning about draughting, monitors, and foam branches — building skills, refreshing knowledge, and making sure we’re always ready when the call comes, whether it’s in the middle of the night or during the day.

Training nights are more than just learning equipment and techniques; they’re about teamwork, sharing knowledge, and having a few laughs along the way too.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and got involved! 👏🔥

On this chilly day, our brigade gathered for our regular meeting. 🥶

We kept warm with a busy bee cleaning out the engine bay, tidying appliance lockers, burning off leaf litter around the station and making sure our barbeque is clean.

After a busy day we sat down to home cooked spaghetti bolognaise cooked by one of our fireys.🍝
