🎄 Bairnsdale Christmas Parade 2025! 🎄

Our VICSES Bairnsdale Unit had a fantastic time taking part in today’s Christmas Parade. A huge thank you to our volunteers for proudly representing the unit, and to our community for the waves, smiles, and festive cheer along the route!

Are you visiting Gippsland this long weekend?
Emergencies can happen at any time, so its best to make plans - even when you don't think you'll need them

When finding the perfect campsite:
⛺ Avoid low-lying areas.
⛺ Avoid areas near rivers and lakes.
⛺ Avoid camping under trees.

Why? River and lake conditions can change and rise quickly, rain and water can pool on low lying areas and trees can fall when the ground is saturated or during strong winds.

Monitor weather conditions by checking the Bureau of Meteorology app or website, or calling 1300 659 210.

Stay informed of emergency warnings by downloading and checking the VicEmergency app or website, or by calling 1800 226 226, or by listening to ABC Gippsland or other emergency broadcasters.

If you don't have mobile reception at your campsite or location, recall where last had coverage and revisit that place to receive information about weather conditions and warnings.

What can you do to prepare for a storm, severe weather or damaging winds?

📱Monitor weather conditions and forecasts through the Bureau of Meteorology app or website.
📻Stay informed of any warnings with the VicEmergency app and ABC Gippsland radio and other emergency broadcasters.

☂️Secure loose items such as outdoor furniture, umbrellas and trampolines.
🚗Park your car under cover and away from trees.

🔋Be prepared for losing power by charging devices, power banks or having batteries.
🥫Ensure you have access to drinking water, food and medication.

If you need emergency assistance for damage to your property from wind or fallen trees, or access is blocked to your property as a result of storm or strong winds, call Victoria State Emergency Service on 132 500.
