We're encouraging East Gippsland's young people to become 'water heroes' by entering this year's National Water Week Poster Competition.

Last year, Mallacoota's Archie Browlie took out equal second place in the Grade 5-6 Category with his creative poster (below).

This year’s theme is ‘Water heroes: make every drop count’, encouraging children to explore ideas around the importance of saving water in a changing climate.

And, for the first time, the competition has extended to high school students, with Years 7 and 8 students able to enter. Entry is open to children from kindergarten to Year 8.

Our reception renovations are complete and our Customer Support Centre will be back in its usual home at 133 Macleod Street, Bairnsdale tomorrow - Wednesday 10 June.
Visitors will notice we have new meeting spaces, offering privacy for discussions about financial support options, billing enquiries, property connections and more.
Our office hours are 8.30 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.

It’s World Environment Day!

This year, we’re celebrating by investing in a more sustainable water future for our community.

We’re building a Class A treatment plant that will supply recycled water to recreational facilities helping reduce the use of our precious drinking water and supporting smarter water use. Funded by DEECA and supported by East Gippsland Shire Council through the Integrated Water Management Strategic Directions Statement, the project is on track for completion in late 2026.

Projects like this are key to strengthening climate resilience and securing our communities water future.

In the past 11 months, we've provided a total of $43,720 in bill credits to our customers, just for buying eligible water efficient products from any retailer you choose.

In fact, since the start of the program in 2023, we've credited $128,150 to our customers, all thanks to our Water Efficiency Rebate Program.

To find out how to get up to $1,500 credited to your water bill for buying products such as water tanks, dishwashers, washing machines, garden mulch and more, go to egwater.vic.gov.au/customer-info/rebates and call us on 1800 671 841.
