Scams and Safety Alert
The Armidale Neighbourhood Centre is an approved provider of the NILS program within NSW, though there are many scammers impersonating approved providers using fake websites, social media profiles, and ads.
Watch out for scammers who may:
- Contact you on social media
- Ask for myGov sign-in and password
- Ask for Banking details, including sign-in and password
- Ask for Identity documents like Medicare card details or Centrelink Customer Reference Number
- Ask for you to download software
- Ask for you to transfer money
- Ask you to set up a bank account with a specific provider to have money transferred.
Good Shepherd and the Armidale Neighbourhood Centre will never ask you for your myGov sign-in, bank details, or use social media to contact you or process a loan application.
If you think you have been scammed:
- Stop all contact with the suspected scammer
- Block and report the scammer account on social media
- Report a scam to authorities
- Contact your bank or card provider as soon as possible
- Change your account passwords.
