Our monthly training was a great learning experience for all members, caring out several pile burns whilst getting a chance to test out the thermal camera and all its advantages. We used this opportunity to learn about our new bulk water carrier as well. 🚒😀

Don’t be alarmed, tonight we will be carrying out some pile burns (Wednesday 22nd) from 7.30 in the Cane Avenue area so there will be smoke in the area, so please keep doors and windows closed. These will be completed tonight.
This is being used as a valuable training session.
Thanks

You get an extra hour today! Use it to check your smoke alarm batteries!

In 2023, nearly half of all significant house fires in South Australia occurred in homes with disabled smoke alarms, alarms with flat batteries, or no smoke alarms installed at all.

This is why we are working with the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service to encourage everyone to test their smoke alarms, change the batteries, or replace any broken devices if needed.

Ardrossan CFS Christmas Hamper Raffle: Thanks to the businesses for having raffle books in their stores, the public who purchased tickets and Light Church ‘Carols by the Sea’ evening for allowing the drawing of the raffle ticket. Very well supported. The winning ticket was purple ticket ‘M-036’. Congratulations to John Harrop of Price being the prize winner. The generously stocked Christmas Hamper was donated by Julie Gates and a big thank you to her for her ongoing support.

Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
• If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.
• In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.
• Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council.

Would just like to say thankyou to whoever borrowed the traffic cones and kindly returned them to the station. I am sure you required them for a valid reason and now that the job has been done have returned them to their original job in helping us train and protect the community.

Tonight we set up a training exercise down at the boat ramp. There were 7 witches hats set up to simulate a structure fire at the toilet when we arrived five of the witches had either been moved or borrowed by someone. If you could please return them to the station it would be greatly appreciated. No questions asked.
