To all the legendary dads out there - Happy Father’s Day 👏🏼 ♂️ It just wouldn’t be the big day without the classic dad starter pack: socks, jocks, and a cold b**r. Some traditions never miss 😂

Cheers to dads 🍻 Happy Sunday 🙂

Today, 3rd September is National Flag Day, the birthday of our flag 🇦🇺

The flag reminds us of contributions to Australia, past and present, in peace and in war. It represents the Federation of Australia and Australia’s form of parliamentary democracy, our freedoms, traditions and our responsibilities. The flag represents the unity of all Australians 🇦🇺

👉🏼 This photo was taken at a citizenship ceremony last year, brought in by a woman with an Iranian background who proudly obtained and celebrated her Australian citizenship that day under the Aussie flag 🩷👏🏼

📣 State Government Tax Incoming: Hobsons Bay is reissuing rates notices because the Victorian Government’s Emergency Services Volunteer Fund Levy (ESVF) was left off the first batch.

I never backed forcing councils to collect the State’s ESVF. It’s a State Government tax hidden inside a local rates notice. Accountability gets blurred, blame gets shifted, and ratepayers get stung...

I always wanted more transparency over this new State Government tax - I guess it's transparent now.

This is the same government that lets half the state stroll around on bail and thought machete bins were some kind of groundbreaking public‑safety innovation... And now we’re meant to trust them to deliver… this? They spent years insisting the roads were perfectly fine - nothing to see, nothing to fix - and suddenly Carroll pops up admitting the state’s roads are “not good enough.” What’s their grand plan?
A $352 million pothole blitz to fix 500,000 potholes, with minimum security prisoners drafted in to help patch the mess. You couldn’t script it. You genuinely couldn’t. 🤣

Just days ago a 10-year-old boy undergoing treatment for brain cancer was punched in the head in a random Melbourne C*D attack. His mother was stabbed multiple times protecting him. My heart broke reading it.

Today: a mum and her baby targeted in a brazen Werribee carjacking spree. The accused found asleep in a family home after a teenager got home from school and raised the alarm.

As a mum and a councillor, I’m sick of this. Families should not live in fear in their own streets and cities.

Enough is enough. I didn’t vote Labor last state election, and I sure won’t this November.

Victoria, what the hell is going on? 😢 A 10-year-old boy punched in the head in broad daylight in Melbourne’s C*D, then a woman stabbed with scissors for defending him, right near police HQ.

It’s bad. Really bad.

Wishing that little boy and the woman a full and speedy recovery. Strength to the family 👏🏼

Attended the Hobsons Bay City Band’s annual concert “Light and Colour” yesterday at the Altona Theatre, with Cr Lisa Bentley. The whole performance was fantastic, but the standout for me was their take on Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine”. 🙌🏻

Great job, everyone! Thank you for the invitation 🩷

Yesterday I went to Altona Police Station as part of my work looking at retail crime and community safety across Hobsons Bay.

The station is supposed to be open from 7am–10pm, Monday to Friday.

It was closed.

No warning. No notice. Just a sign on the door saying that all members were operational.

And in the 20 minutes I was there, four people arrived needing police assistance.

An elderly woman wanting to report an incident. A middle-aged man there to report an incident. A young person required to sign in as part of their parole. And an elderly man seeking answers about an incident over the weekend that has had tragic consequences for an immediate member of his family.

Let me be very clear: this is not a criticism of Victoria Police or the members serving our community. They are doing the best job they can with the resources and circumstances they have been given.

But this is a crisis.

We are paying a very real price for years of inadequate resources, and no amount of splashy announcements about future recruitment changes the reality on the ground today.

This should have been foreseen. It should have been acted on years ago.

We can talk about the billions being spent across government. But imagine what even a fraction of the $15 billion that was siphoned off to militant unions could have achieved if we had invested properly in frontline policing and community safety before we reached this point.

This is where we are. And it is not okay.

WTH is going on?! Every day it's another horrific news story... Shootings. Stabbings. Assaults. Theft. Innocent people lured on apps, beaten, and murdered. This isn’t just headlines, it’s happening in our streets, our shops, our suburbs. Enough is enough. We need real action, not excuses. Safety isn’t optional. It’s the bare minimum every person deserves. I'm so sick of this!
