🫶 Today is Thank a First Responder Day 🫶

Today we would like to acknowledge and thank all First Responders for the incredible work they do in supporting our communities.

Whether it's responding to fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, rescues, storms, or countless other incidents, first responders are there when people need help the most.

Here at Alstonville Fire Station, we are proud to work alongside our emergency service partners and are grateful for the dedication, professionalism and commitment shown by first responders every day.

A special thank you to our firefighters, paramedics, police officers, SES volunteers, Marine Rescue crews and all emergency service personnel who help keep our communities safe.

If you see a first responder today, whether in uniform, at work, volunteering, or on call and ready to respond, take a moment to say thank you. A small gesture of appreciation can mean a great deal.

Last year, nearly half the homes damaged or destroyed by fire in NSW did not have a working smoke alarm!
Be smart and take part in Smoke Alarm Action Day, and test your smoke alarm works!
A working smoke alarm is your best early warning sign of a fire, giving you and your loved ones the chance to get out, stay out, and call Triple Zero (000).

🚨🔥 Smoke Alarm Action Day
– 1 st June 🔥🚨

With winter just around the corner, now is the perfect time to check your smoke alarms at home.

As the weather cools down, we start using heaters, electric blankets, fireplaces, cooking appliances and charging more electronic devices, all things that can increase the risk of house fires.

Working smoke alarms save lives by giving you and your family early warning and valuable time to escape safely.

✅ Test every smoke alarm in your home
✅ Replace batteries if needed
✅ Replace smoke alarms older than 10 years
✅ Make sure alarms are correctly installed
✅ Have a home fire escape plan and practise it

It only takes a minute to test your smoke alarm… but it could save a life.

Don’t become complacent when it comes to fire safety this winter.

To the mums in emergency services and beyond who are always “on,” always giving, and always caring.

And that’s a wrap 🚒 🔥 Alstonville Fire Station Open Day, done and dusted! 🚒🔥

A huge thank you to the Alstonville community for such an incredible turnout and for making the day so special. We loved welcoming so many locals through the station and sharing a fun, interactive day with you all.

A big shoutout to our amazing firefighters for bringing the energy, knowledge, and community spirit, and to Northern Rivers Wildlife Carers for keeping everyone well-fed with some great sausages! 🌭
