The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) is hosting face-to-face consultations for people affected by recent events. Representatives from multiple insurance companies will be available to discuss existing claims, help lodge new claims, and answer your questions.

You can also speak with representatives from the Insurance Council and the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) for practical information about the claims process and available support.

🗳️ Kinglake Ward by-election – make sure you’re enrolled

A by-election is being held to elect a new Councillor to represent Kinglake Ward, and now is the time to make sure you’re enrolled and ready to have your say.

The electoral roll closes at 4.00 pm on Wednesday 23 September 2026.

If you live in Kinglake Ward, make sure your enrolment is up to date. Some people who own property in Kinglake Ward but live elsewhere may also be eligible to enrol and vote, and may need to apply to enrol.

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is responsible for enrolment and conducting the by-election, so we encourage you to check what applies to you before the deadline.

💛LAST SCREENINGS OF TINA AND SKETCH💛

As we approach R U OK? Day, it is a reminder that we do not need to be experts to support someone who may be struggling.

A simple "Are you OK?" and a willingness to listen can make a real difference. Research shows that nine in ten people who are asked feel cared for, supported and appreciated.

There is still time to join Council's free community film screenings this week at Kinglake Ranges Neighbourhood House on Thursday 10 and Yea Shire Hall on Friday 11.

These events bring people together to connect, share a meal and start meaningful conversations about wellbeing and resilience.

Whether you come for the movie, the meal or the company, everyone is welcome.

ℹ LIBRARY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRES SCHEDULED CLOSURE FOR STAFF TRAINING ℹ

Alexandra Reception, Alexandra Library, Kinglake Library and Customer Service Centre, Yea Library and Customer Service Centre and the Mobile Library will be closed on Wednesday 9 September for a staff training day.

This will provide an opportunity for all library and customer service staff to upskill and continue delivering a high standard of customer service.

The rest of Council will remain operational, but phones will be diverted to the after-hours service.

For matters such as stock on roads, dog attacks or unsafe road conditions, including fallen trees over roads, please call 5772 0333 at any time.

For any non-urgent or in-office requests, we’ll be back Thursday 10 September, or you can always lodge a customer request at www.murrindindi.vic.gov.au/request

Every adventure needs a challenge and when ELF Reading Day arrives, your mission will be to explore every station and discover as many stories as you can.​

​You might meet a pirate, find a fairy, spot a favourite character or stumble across a brand-new story you've never heard before.​ Each stop is another page in the adventure.

​Remember to keep your eyes and ears open though. While you’re busy looking for treasure, there will still be cars travelling down the road. Keep hold of little hands and follow directions of staff and volunteers. ​

​ELF Reading Day will be held on Friday 18 September 2026 from 10.00 to 11.00 am on Grant Street, Alexandra.​
