In case you are unaware, here is the latest monstrosity that is trying to ruin the beauty and unique charm of our Village. It's right next to the Biltmore and above 'Scarlett Jones'. A planning permit application is with Council at the moment.

To stop this inappropriate development, LODGE AN OBJECTION TODAY!

Send an email to: [email protected]
Include the following information -
Application No: PDPL/00817/2022

Hello Friends of Albert Park, as you may or may not be aware, we sadly lost our fight last year to save 1 Vic Ave ☹

After the CoPP rejected the developer’s planning application for the ‘new’ building design, VCAT unfortunately overturned the decision and granted a permit that allows the demolition of the building.

It's been 4.5 years since the original planning permit application. And although we haven’t been able to save the building, we have made a difference. By standing together as a community, voicing our opinions and pushing back on the developer, we have had a positive impact on the design of the new building. The building height and mass have been reduced and materials/finishes amended to be more sympathetic to its surroundings. Hopefully these improvements will make it less of an eyesore!

Thank you to everyone who has supported our fight along the way. It’s this incredible community spirit and friendly village that makes Albert Park such an incredible place to live and visit.

GREAT NEWS!👏😄
Last night at the CoPP Planning Committee meeting the recommendation (by Council's Planning dept) to grant a permit to demolish 1 Vic Ave was DENIED. All bar one Councillor voted to deny the permit. We're so relieved.
This may mean we're back to VCAT, but we'll have to wait and see.
Thank you to everyone for their continued support and interest in this community issue. Saving the heritage of our beloved area will always be of paramount importance.

URGENT - TONIGHT @ 6.30pm
We found out this morning the Planning dept at CoPP are supporting the Developer’s application to GRANT A PERMIT FOR DEMOLITION and grant a permit for the current plans 😭
We need community support tonight at the Planning Committee Meeting to show the Councillors that the residents and visitors of Albert Park don’t want our heritage buildings destroyed.
Please log on to the live stream of the meeting tonight at 6.30pm (link below). You don’t have to speak - your presence is enough. We need as many people as possible - PLEASE SHARE

It's not too late to object to the overdevelopment of Albert Park Village. Council must accept objections right up until a decision is made. OBJECT to planning application 880/2019.

We are currently dealing with an unprecedented global crisis, but that doesn’t mean we can forget about our local issues.

Developers are once again attempting to destroy the much loved heritage of Albert Park Village by demolishing a local piece of history.

We always knew there’d be more battles to come. We made our voices heard once and we will again.

1 Victoria Ave needs our help.

Save Albert Park from Developers

We’re a passionate group of Albert Park residents who are trying to save Albert Park Village from being overdeveloped, as a large apartment block & retail development is proposed for 1 Victoria Avenue. Albert Park has a unique and irreplaceable charm, with quaint heritage streetscapes and a small community village feel. We do not take our special position for granted and intend to treasure and protect it for generations to come.

We don’t want to see our heritage buildings demolished and replaced with soulless apartment blocks. This threatens the village atmosphere and is against everything Albert Park stands. It also contradicts why people love living in and visiting the area.
