Today was a truly special day for the Wichita Falls Fire Department, the Crush family, and our entire community as we officially dedicated and opened Kelly Crush Memorial Park.
The tremendous outpouring of support shown today was a testament to the impact Kelly had on so many lives. More than a decade after his passing, people continue to remember his courage, his strength, his sense of humor, and his unwavering commitment to serving others. Seeing so many friends, family members, firefighters, city leaders, and community members come together to honor his legacy was incredibly meaningful.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Wichita Falls Firefighters Association for bringing this idea forward and for providing today’s meal. Thank you to Mayor Tim Short, Councilor Battaglino, and the rest of the Wichita Falls City Council as well as the City Manager’s Office, Parks Department, City staff, and Falls Truck Center for their support and partnership in making this vision a reality.
We would also like to thank the Wichita Falls Fire and Police Museum for bringing so many amazing trucks.
A special thank you goes to everyone who attended today’s ceremony, shared memories, and helped make this dedication such a fitting tribute. Kelly’s legacy of service, perseverance, brotherhood, and compassion continues to inspire us today.
As families gather, children play, and future generations enjoy this park, they will be reminded of a man who dedicated his life to serving others and who never stopped fighting for what mattered most.
Thank you, Wichita Falls, for helping us ensure that Kelly’s legacy will live on for generations to come.
