Do you know Australia’s warning symbols?.

The Australian Warning System is a national system used across Australia to provide clear and consistent emergency warnings for hazards such as bushfires, floods, storms, cyclones, and extreme heat.

SA SES uses this system to help keep communities informed and safe during severe weather and flooding events.

It uses simple icons and three colour-coded warning levels so you can quickly understand the risk and what action to take:

🟡 Advice
There is a hazard in the area. Stay informed and keep up to date.

🟠 Watch and Act
Conditions are changing. You need to start taking action now to stay safe.

🔴 Emergency Warning
There is immediate danger. You need to act now to protect your life.

These warnings are used across websites, apps, and emergency alerts so that no matter where you are in Australia, the message stays consistent.

Learn more here: https://www.australianwarningsystem.com.au/

Do you recognise these symbols and know what action you would take?

If you had to grab your emergency kit right now, would it be ready to go?

Emergency kits are an important part of being prepared for storms, floods, and severe weather. Basic items like water, a torch, batteries, medications, and important documents can make a big difference when things do not go to plan. Don’t forget about pets.

Have a look on the SA SES website to find the emergency kit checklist.
