The second largest appliance in the CFS fleet is State Logistics 3 - the large hook lift truck.

Our team has a number of hook lift operators who deploy this asset across the state, mainly to support air operations.

Here it is delivering a mixed load including retardant for air operations during the recent Deep Creek fire.

Thanks to Brigade member Alan for this photo.

Night time....day time....

Our crews were hard at it again last night. Due to the dynamic situation with the Deep Creek Fire, we moved the rapid deployment communications trailer to a safer spot.

Operating in the dark creates challenges however we did a good job!

Today our crews are back at it again. A few technical problems last night meant that a second visit was required today for the Deep Creek fire.

Crews undertook a triage of the location of the rapid deployment communications trailer to ensure its safety and measure its effectiveness.

They also did some technical trouble shooting on the portable automated weather stations or PAWS units they deployed last night. These allow frequent and reliable weather readings to be sent to the incident management team beyond the regular BOM weather station readings.

In sub par and fairly windy conditions our Brigade was this evening tasked to the Deep Creek fire near Cape Jervis.

Our crews were tasked to set up 2 portable weather station units as well as the rapid deployment communications trailer.

Operating in the dark in unfamiliar territory does increase the risk associated with our taskings however is part of the job.

Shout out to members who were staffing the Bushfire Hotline at the same time- monster effort from all!

The little truck that could...

State Logistics 8 has been with us only a couple of years but we have managed to double it's mileage in that time.

Previously Seaford Air Ops appliance it now serves as a general Logistics vehicle able to carry between 2 and 4 pallets depending on weight, it is often used to deploy foam, retardant, gel, drinking water or even hoses and equipment to the front line to assist operational activities.

It might not be fast or overly comfortable but it is reliable and easy to drive!

Another productive day (and week) for our members.

A crew of 4 today deployed equipment to Berri to assist with the efforts on combating the ongoing fire on Katarapko Island in the Riverland.

Earlier in the week with the elevated fire dangers our team staffed the Bushfire Information Hotline, a very important role in community engagement and providing public information.

Thanks to all of our team members who contributed this week - the community appreciates what you do!

We are constantly on the lookout for good people to join us and what we do. If you are interested in taking a closer look at what we do and maybe joining us, hit us up with a DM.

As we have seen with recent fires across the state and country, the current dry conditions continue to increase the risk of fires and potential impacts to communities.

With hot and windy conditions forecast across the state this weekend and into early next week, there is a heightened risk of fires starting and spreading quickly.

Our CFS members are ready to respond over the weekend but we need you to do your part. Even if your district is not in ban today, you need to be prepared, stay informed, and where possible don't do any activities that could spark a fire.

Check the latest fire danger ratings and total fire bans on the CFS website: https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/restrictions/total-fire-bans-ratings

Thanks to one of our Brigade members for this photo from last fire season where we deployed the second largest appliance in the fleet to support air operations at Stirling North Airbase near Port Augusta and the Wilmington fire.

A TOTAL FIRE BAN has been declared for Friday 23 January 2026 for the following Fire Ban Districts:
• EASTERN EYRE PENINSULA - Extreme
• MOUNT LOFTY RANGES - Extreme
• YORKE PENINSULA - Extreme

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.
The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire Danger Ratings
Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
• If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.
• In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.
• Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council.
• Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.
• Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions.

The last 24 hours have been super busy for our Brigade.

Sunday morning a working been was undertaken.

In the afternoon crews were deployed to assist the MFS with the huge fire at Croydon Park by supplying additional ICB'S of foam.

The early evening saw crews deployed to the Nangkita fire to set up the rapid development communications trailer.

Evening Incident Management Team for this incident saw another member deployed in the resources officer role.

And Monday will see another team member being deployed as staging area manager, with another crew deployed as ground observers!

So much action in 24 hours!
