There was plenty of friendly rivalry when Walking Footy came to ECH Rotary Village. 🏈

In partnership with SANFL, residents took to the lawn to try the modified version of Australian Rules, designed to make the game accessible and enjoyable for people aged 50 and over.

For residents, it was a chance to get moving, have some fun and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with the game.

This National Carers Week, we're recognising the millions of Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend.

This year's theme, Care for a Carer, reminds us that carers need support too. Whether it's helping a loved one manage daily tasks, providing companionship, or navigating life's challenges together, carers play an invaluable role in our communities.

At ECH, we're proud to support carers through services that help people stay connected, active and independent, while giving carers time to rest, recharge and focus on their own wellbeing.

This week, take a moment to check in on a carer, thank them, and let them know they're appreciated. 💜

Nirav’s career journey from production leadership to home services reflects the care, teamwork and sense of purpose that sit at the heart of ECH, and the positive impact our people make in the community.

Joining ECH in 2023, Nirav was looking for better balance for his young family. Starting as a Home Services Team Member, he completed his Certificate III in Individual Support while being paid to study, and within a year moved into a Care Partner Support Officer role. Today, as a Care Partner, he connects older South Australians with the services they need to live confidently at home:

"When you know a client is safe and happy with the support we've put in place, I feel proud."

After more than 55 years of marriage, David and Gina are facing a new chapter together following Gina's diagnosis of vascular dementia.

With Gina now enjoying the ECH Day Program twice a week, she has found new activities and friendships, while David has valuable time to recharge, catch up with friends and enjoy a round of golf.

For David, knowing Gina is safe, happy and engaged makes all the difference.

At 91, Jean believes the best adventures could still be just around the corner.

She celebrated her 80th birthday with a hot air balloon flight and her 90th with a tandem skydive … and she's already thinking about taking to the skies again.

Jean's approach to getting MORE out of life isn't only about adventure. It's also about friendship, staying active and being open to new experiences.

Her advice? "Just do it."
