Last weekend, we marked a special milestone, the 50th anniversary of Wittunga Botanic Garden, with a vibrant community picnic set among the stunning spring blooms πΈπ¦
Originally gifted to the state by the Ashby family, Wittunga officially opened to the public as a Botanic Garden in 1975. Since then, it has become a treasured green space, known for its rich biodiversity and fascinating history.
To commemorate the occasion, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia joined local children to plant a native Grey Box (Eucalyptus microcarpa).
We also welcomed, The Honourable Catherine Hutchesson, Member for Waite, Professor Chris Daniels, Chair of the Board of Green Adelaide, Michael Harvey, Director of Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium, Judy Potter, Chair of the Board of Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium, Jason Tyndall, CEO of Nature Play.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this iconic garden and its enduring connection to the community. Here's to the next 50 years! π±
