We continue to acknowledge our creative community, this week celebrating 9 local children for their imaginative compositions in our annual 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻!

Participants were invited to create stories that respond to the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 theme of 𝙎𝙮𝙢𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨. Our 2026 award winners are

Yr 5 – Yr 6 Category: Evangeline (1st Place), Ellie (Honourable Mention), Amy (Honourable Mention)
Yr 3 – Yr 4 Category: Grace (1st Place), Cynthia (Honourable Mention), Parinaaz (Honourable Mention)

We also want to acknowledge the efforts of SA authors Dr Helen Edwards Writes and Olivia De Zilva (pictured), and Beverley Mcwilliams Author, who all generously volunteered their time to judge the submissions!

𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀.

His book 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘢𝘺𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 won the 2025 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry, arguably Australia’s richest and most prestigious literary awards program celebrating outstanding Australian writing.

His work, including several novels and poetry collections, continues to shape contemporary literature, with a reputation for blending philosophical insight, environmental thought and lyrical expression.

In his only Adelaide appearance as part of the Prime Minister's Literary Award, don’t miss this opportunity to hear from one of Australia’s most respected literary voices as he discusses his work, creative process and award‑winning career.

Part of Adult Learners' Week for 2026

It's officially 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 from 22 to 28 August, and we are so excited to make some noise!

We have our stunning 𝗳𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 with a close up of some of the 'sounds' our community have added to our song.

Out on the balcony we have our sonerous 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆, as well as our collaborative 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 which has been worked on with a number of our local ELCs and Kindergartens.
