We are incredibly proud to share that our First Nations Therapeutic Summit 2026 won Best Conference under 500 Delegates at the Australian Event Awards and was also a finalist for Australian Event of the Year!

Our event was recognised for its culturally grounded, community-centred approach, thoughtful design that prioritised delegate wellbeing, and its ability to bring together cultural authority, evidence-informed practice, and lived experience to create meaningful impact.

So much love and care goes into this event, which is delivered entirely in-house by our small team, so this recognition feels especially special to us.

A huge thank you to everyone who brings the Summit to life: from our incredible KWY staff to our speakers, attendees, sponsors, vendors and all the people who contribute their time, knowledge, creativity and support. This achievement belongs to all of you, and we couldn’t do it without you.

On Friday, a few of our team attended the 2026 Child Protection and Family Support Awards.

It was a meaningful opportunity to recognise the incredible people working across our sector, with many moving stories shared throughout the event that reminded us of the importance of the work being done to support children, young people and families.

We were especially proud to celebrate our CEO, Craig Rigney, who was named a finalist for the Minister for Child Protection Lifetime Achievement Award.

Congratulations to Ann Kasprzak from Centacare Catholic Community Services, the very deserving recipient of this award, recognising an incredible 37 years of dedication and service to the sector.

Congratulations to all the nominees, finalists and winners. Your commitment, compassion and dedication to making a difference in the lives of children and families is truly valued.

Thank you to the Department for Child Protection SA, and NAPCAN for bringing everyone together to recognise and celebrate this important work.

The Wilto Willo Research Team at KWY is inviting community members to take part in an online survey and share their views and experiences on reducing the over-representation of Aboriginal children and young people in out-of-home care.

The survey takes just 10–15 minutes to complete, and participants can also go into the draw to win one of three $150 gift vouchers.

Who can participate?
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with personal, family or professional experience of the child protection system, or non-Aboriginal parents/carers of an Aboriginal child or young person with lived experience of the system. Participants must live in South Australia and be aged 18+.

Every story shared can help guide the way forward.

We’re proud to unveil the winning artwork for the Northern Adelaide Su***de Prevention Community Action Plan, Growing Through Grief, created by Kaihla Gibson.

A proud Wirangu, Kuyani and Arabana woman, Kaihla’s artwork speaks to hope, healing and the strength of community. It reminds us that connection to culture, family and one another is at the heart of healing.

"While grief may become part of our journey, healing is possible when we remain connected to culture, family and community."

We sincerely thank Kaihla for sharing her story, strength and creativity through this powerful piece. We look forward to sharing the full story behind the artwork, and its meaning, as part of the final Community Action Plan.

Last Wednesday, we marked 15 years of KWY with a gathering at our office. We were honoured to hear reflections from Deputy Premier Kyam Maher MLC, Minister Katrine Hildyard MP, Minister Alice Rolls and Commissioner Dale Agius, who spoke about the importance of ACCO-led responses and the strength of community-led solutions.

We also shared a special video featuring families whose lives have been impacted by the support KWY has provided, and unveiled a commissioned artwork that captures the story of our journey so far.

Over the past 15 years, KWY has grown from a small team into a statewide organisation, while remaining grounded in community, relationships and healing. During this time, we have had the privilege of walking alongside more than 11,000 families.

This milestone is not just about KWY. It reflects the trust placed in us, the strength of the families we work with, and the support of the many people who have contributed to our journey.

To our supporters, partners and community, thank you for helping us continue this important work. To our dedicated staff, past and present, thank you for your passion, care and commitment. To the children, young people and families we walk alongside, thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey.

Together, you are the heart of 15 years of Creating a Space for Change.

It’s been a busy and meaningful National Reconciliation Week for KWY staff.

On Wednesday morning, staff attended the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast, a powerful opportunity to come together, share a feed, have a yarn, and continue the important conversations around reconciliation.

Yesterday, our team was proud to be part of the Rec in the West community event, connecting with community and joining in a day that always brings people together.

As an ACCO, we know reconciliation is strengthened through genuine allyship; by listening, learning, showing up, and taking action alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

This year’s theme, “All In”, reminds us that reconciliation isn’t something we watch from the sidelines. It’s something we actively commit to in our work, our words, and the choices we make every day.

We were also proud to see KWY CEO Craig Rigney attend Junction Australia's Lunch and Yarn event, speaking on the allyship panel discussion ahead of the unveiling of Junction’s Allyship Statement.

Reconciliation doesn’t live in a single week or moment. It’s built through everyday actions, conversations, relationships, and ongoing commitment.

So this week, and every week, let’s be All In 🖤💛❤️

We’re looking for digital artwork that reflects community, hope, healing and connection. Open to Aboriginal and non-Indigenous artists, emerging and established creatives are all encouraged to apply.
