When the office guy does fieldwork…
This graph shows the dramatic spike in average weekly steps when a city-based staff member joins in with fieldwork on Country.

🌱 Ceduna community event at Wittelbee Conservation Park

Come along to Wittelbee Conservation Park on 28 September to experience seed planting, guided walks and damper making while connecting with others in nature.

We’re pleased to be involved in this community event as part of Nature Festival with Alinytjara Wilurara Landscape Board, National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia and Far West Coast Rangers.

Friday flower
Among the earthy tones of the mallee and spinifex of Yellabinna, these hakeas are a standout in the morning sun. Recent rains have brought out the flowers along Googs Track, including these nectar-rich beauties.

AW’s Paula Modra and Brett Backhouse joined a Kangaroo Partnership Project yarning circle in August. Hosted by the Far West Coast Aboriginal Corporation, the circle also included representatives from Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board.
Participants shared what kangaroos mean to them from cultural, environmental, social and economic perspectives, and explored current barriers to effective kangaroo management, identified potential future opportunities for collaboration and locally appropriate approaches.

Railroaded.
15 years of mapping data shows that buffel is entering the Great Victoria Desert along the railway line, so AW arranged a meeting with senior executives from the Australian Rail Track Corporation to find out what they plan to do about managing the w**d on land they are responsible for. The meeting included representatives from neighbouring communities who had the opportunity to voice their concerns about buffel being brought onto their Country.
