Kidsafe SA Kidsafe SA is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation dedicated to the prevention of unintentional death and injuries to children.

Through the provision of information, education, training and advocacy, and working in collaboration or partnership with like minded organisations, Kidsafe SA works to influence legislation, state and local governments, organisations, communities and families to become more aware of how to reduce preventable unintentional injury in children.

Driveway runover incidents commonly occur in the morning and late afternoon - times when families are busy doing school and daycare drop-off, heading to work, and returning home for the day.

The following safety measures can be taken to ensure the safety of children in driveways and around cars.

Hey Adelaide, it's Showtime!! ๐ŸŽก๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘

Kidsafe SA has put together a few safety tips for those of you who are heading to the show this year, to help keep your little ones safe.

1. Always use the 5-point harness provided in the pram/stroller โ€“ A number of children are injured every year after falling as a result of not being buckled in.
2. Supervise your child when they are eating. Popcorn, hard lollies, and sausage products have been associated with choking.
3. Check that any toy or show bag you buy is safe โ€“ check for easily accessible button batteries or small items that a child could choke on.
4. Make sure your child is the right size to go on show rides.
5. Watch children around animals and stay within armโ€™s reach.

And lastly, enjoy your day at the show!!

Bunk beds are a great way to make more space in a room or for kids to share a room, and while kids are often keen to sleep on the top bunk, injuries from falls are common.

Unsafe settings for babyโ€™s sleep-time include leaving baby unattended on an adult bed, placing baby on a waterbed, beanbag, couch, pillow, or cushion, or with a sleeping adult or child on a couch, sofa, or chair.

Remember, the safest place for a baby to sleep is in an Australian Standard (AS 2172) cot, on a firm, clean, flat mattress that is designed for your cot, safely positioned away from window ledges and curtain cords, and baby is dressed appropriately for the room temperature with no soft toys, woollen underlays or bulky bedding.
