🐸 Can you hear them calling? 🐸

The frogs are singing in the rain! ☔

The FrogWatch SA Winter Census has officially begun and runs until Monday 8 June.

Help scientists monitor frog activity by recording frog calls using the FrogSpotter app or FrogWatch SA website.

Whether you hear a full frog chorus, one lonely croak, or no frogs at all, every recording counts and provides valuable data.

To upload the frog calls all you have to do is:

1. Download the FrogSpotter app
2. Create an account
3. Pick a location
4. Record the frog calls for 3 – 5 minutes
5. If you’re really advanced… tell us what frog you think it is! Don’t worry if you don’t know, though, because the FrogWatch team will be able to identify them.

🌱 Did you know the best time to plant your coastal natives is right now?

Planting is best done in the cooler months through autumn and winter. The ideal time is after the autumn opening rains when the soil is moist and plants have ample time to establish roots before the warm weather kicks in.

To get your inspiration flowing, here are plants to grow and not to grow.

🌏 Identify threatened species
🌏 Navigate key ALA tools
🌏 Download biodiversity data for reporting, planning and analysis
🌏 Filter and validate records to improve data quality and relevance
🌏 Apply ALA data to real-world conservation and community projects

The webinar will include step-by-step demonstrations and locally relevant examples to help you confidently use ALA tools in your own work and community.

🌱 The rare copper‑wire daisy is returning!

The small but mighty copper‑wire daisy (Panaetia muelleri) is making a quiet comeback along Adelaide’s southern coastline, but you’ll need sharp eyes to spot it.

Once common from Brighton to Sellicks Beach, this small coastal daisy has unfortunately been declining across Adelaide’s coastline and is considered very rare in the area.

Thanks to good winter rains last season, seeds from the South Australian Seed Conservation Centre and dedicated seed conservation work it’s beginning to reappear in places it hasn’t been seen for decades.

Restoring species such as the copper‑wire daisy helps build biodiversity back into our coastline.

Each species contributes to a healthier, more resilient urban environment.
