On Monday, 1 June, Government House Adelaide hosted a special reception celebrating the 40th anniversary of Deaf Australia (). We are proud to share that two Adelaide High School students, Amelia and Kenzie, were part of this event.

Amelia was invited to present during the morning and delivered a moving speech, showcasing her growth and confidence. Kenzie attended the evening event, and it was wonderful to have both students involved as representatives of our community.

Congratulations to Amelia and Kenzie for their outstanding representation.

The Big Freeze is back this June, proudly hosted by West House! Join us at lunchtime in week 8 as we all come together to support the fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND). All funds raised will go directly to FightMND, helping to fund vital research and support services.

There will be plenty of ways to get involved, including:

- Footy kicking competitions on the oval
- Delicious baked goods
- Refreshing slushies
- Big Freeze merchandise

And of course, some of your favourite teachers will be taking the icy plunge and getting dunked in freezing cold water!

If you would like to make a donation, please visit our FightMND fundraiser page. https://support.fightmnd.org.au/fundraisers/AHSBIGFREEZE

Big Freeze beanies can be purchased from the Finance office or at the merchandise stand on the day.

Stay tuned as we reveal who will be brave enough to take on the Big Freeze this year...

This week, we celebrate our Aboriginal students during Reconciliation Week and recognise their valuable contributions and presence within our community. Sienna’s artwork will be featured on hospital tray menus at Calvary Hospital, our Nunga Tag team did an excellent job competing across various sports, and Adelaide High School Aboriginal students were warmly welcomed at the Reconciliation Breakfast held at the Convention Centre on Wednesday morning.

On Monday, our Year 11 and 12 Japanese students participated in an origami workshop and visited an inspiring exhibition by renowned Japanese origami artist Tomoko Fuse.

The exhibition was presented by the Japan Australia Friendship Association (JAFA), in partnership with The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre and the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery.

Through hands-on learning, students explored intricate origami techniques and created their own cube designs inspired by Tomoko Fuse. It was a fantastic experience that connected creativity, culture, and communication.

Last Thursday, our Stage 1 Business Innovation students put their entrepreneurial skills to the test in the annual Business Endeavour activity.

Working in teams, students developed their own food and beverage businesses, using a $30 school loan to create and sell products at lunchtime stalls. From fairy bread and rocky road to Dubai chocolate strawberries, matcha cakes and dried oranges, the creativity on display was incredible.

With the challenge becoming a race against the clock to see which business could sell out first, students gained valuable hands-on experience in teamwork, budgeting, marketing and problem-solving.

It was fantastic to see students bringing their ideas to life and selling their products to the school community while building confidence and practical business skills in a real-world setting.

Last Wednesday, our hall was packed as families, students, staff, and industry representatives came together for our Senior Years Pathways & Subject Selection Information Evening.

The evening provided year 10, 11 and 12 students and their families with valuable insight into SACE, ATAR and university entrance, VET in Schools, and the many pathways available beyond school.

It was wonderful to see so many meaningful conversations taking place as students explored future opportunities, asked questions, and began making informed decisions about their senior years and career aspirations.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such an informative and supportive evening.
