From Sydney to South Australia, a group of Asia-Pacific wine educators recently travelled through some of Australia’s leading wine regions to deepen their understanding of modern Australian wine 🍷
Over nine days, educators from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Taiwan explored the Hunter Valley, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale as part of an immersive program focused on the theme: History, Evolution & Revolution.
The visit began in Sydney, where the group explored the site of Australia’s first vines planted in 1788 at the Royal Botanic Garden, as well as joining wine writer, educator and judge Mike Bennie for a masterclass examining the evolution of Australian wine.
Throughout the trip, the educators experienced the diversity, innovation and regionality shaping Australian wine today - from classic regional styles to contemporary expressions of varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mencía and Roussanne.
The educators have delivered Australian Wine Discovered education activities across their home markets in collaboration with Wine Australia, and the visit provided an opportunity to refresh and deepen their knowledge through firsthand regional experience.
A huge thank you to the wineries, regions and partners who supported the program - and to the educators for their enthusiasm, curiosity and engagement throughout the journey.
