This is a powerful reminder that every story matters, every journey carries strength, and every act of welcome builds a stronger community.

Refugee Week launch brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate resilience, belonging, diversity, and the meaning of home. Through heartfelt conversations, moving performances, and inspiring stories, one message stood out clearly, unity grows when we choose compassion, understanding, and inclusion.

South Australia continues to show that community is built not by where we come from, but by how we stand together, support one another, and create opportunities for everyone to thrive.

As we reflect this Wisdom Wednesday:
“Home is not just a place. It is the feeling of being seen, valued, and welcomed.”

We are still inviting more attendees to our refugee week event. Please register your attendance here: https://forms.gle/3kTfJSNUDPAPNaAD7

While each journey is unique, these Soceroos stories share common themes: courage, determination, opportunity, family, and community support. They remind us that when young people are given the chance to thrive, they can achieve extraordinary things and make meaningful contributions to society.

Their success extends beyond football. They are role models for young people, ambassadors for diversity, and examples of what is possible when communities invest in inclusion, belonging, and opportunity.

As we mark Refugee Week 2026 and reflect on the theme "A Million Stories," we celebrate not only their achievements, but also the countless stories of perseverance and contribution that help shape South Australia and Australia as a whole.

Four stories among a million. Stories of hope, resilience, opportunity, and belonging.

On Friday, we had the privilege of participating in an engaging and interactive Ubuntu Forum session. The discussions were insightful, thought-provoking, and a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when communities come together to share experiences, ideas, and solutions.

This year marks one year since the Ubuntu Framework was adopted by the Department for Correctional Services, and the impact has been remarkable. We have witnessed meaningful opportunities being created for young people, stronger community connections, and a growing commitment to rehabilitation, inclusion, and positive social outcomes.

The panel discussion was particularly enlightening, offering diverse perspectives and valuable insights into the role Ubuntu continues to play in transforming lives and strengthening communities.

We commend everyone involved in driving this important initiative forward and reaffirm our support for the Ubuntu journey. Together, we can continue building a future where compassion, dignity, and collective responsibility guide our actions.
