✈️ The Peregrine fleet is complete!

The fourth and final MC-55A Peregrine aircraft has arrived at its permanent home at RAAF Base Edinburgh.

The long-range, surveillance aircrafts, which are operated by No. 10 Squadron, are designed to deliver multiple sources of intelligence to support Defence operations, helping strengthen Australia’s defence posture.

✈️ SA expertise supports ADF flight training

Adelaide-headquartered Nova Systems will continue providing qualification services for ADF flight simulators at RAAF Base Edinburgh, supporting training for crews operating the P-8A Poseidon and MC-55A aircraft.

As a re-approved Qualification Organisation, Nova Systems will continue testing, assessing and certifying advanced flight simulators that support Defence aviation training and operational readiness.

Last week, the travelled to Perth to showcase 60 local defence industry SMEs, research and education institutions on our premier South Australia stand.

Across three days, the event delivered new partnerships, valuable industry connections, VIP visits and opportunities to showcase the state's world-class defence capabilities on the global stage. :

🤝 Praetorian Aeronautics partnered with defence prime Rheinmetall to unveil a new counter-UAS system
📝 Secure State signed an MoU with global defence company Safran
📻 Codan DTC unveiled its enhanced tactical radio system solution for LAND4140
🌊 Hendon Semiconductors partnered with Maritime to accelerate manufacturing of advanced seabed sensor technology
⚙️ Norseld joined forces with Adelaide University and Northrop Grumman to further develop its Hollow Core Fibre technology

🤝🌊 Australian SMEs partner to deliver undersea defence capability

South Australian electronics design and manufacturing firm Hendon Semiconductors and Perth-based Proteus Maritime have partnered to accelerate the delivery of innovative Australian-made technology for the increasingly contested underwater environment.

Formalised at Land Forces 2026, the partnership will result in Hendon Semiconductors manufacturing at scale the Tripwire system, which is a network of seabed sensors designed to improve awareness of activities below the ocean’s surface, developed by Proteus Maritime.

🌏 SA radar technology set to go global

Adelaide-based Silentium Defence is expanding the global reach of its Australian-developed passive radar technology through partnerships and programs that connect local innovation with international defence and security markets.

Its recent partnership with Saab Australia will result in Silentium's MAVERICK M8 passive radar delivered to customers across Europe, the United States and the United Kingdom, supporting allied defence priorities while creating high-tech jobs in South Australia.

Congratulations to the Adelaide-based Team Fusion from Charles Campbell College R-12 on its outstanding performance at the recent 2026 STEM Racing World Finals in Singapore.

Competing against 91 teams from 33 countries, Team Fusion finished in 9th place overall but also took home four awards recognising excellence in Verbal Presentation, Community and Social Impact, Project Management, and Team Identity.

Defence SA was proud to support Team Fusion and the school's STEM Racing Academy.

F1 in Schools is not only an engaging STEM education program but an exciting pathway for future careers, developing the talent and skills critical to the defence and space industries.

✅ The has officially wrapped up an impactful week at Land Forces in Perth!

Defence SA was proud to lead a strong South Australian delegation, hosting over 60 defence industry SMEs, research and education institutions on the South Australia - The Defence State stand, including our Defence Innovation Partnership and Department of State Development colleagues.

From day one the stand was buzzing. With hundreds of interstate and international visitors, our popular water bottle station, flowing coffees, VIP visits, industry announcements, and countless productive conversations. 👏 A HUGE thank you to all our exhibitors and incredible staff for making this event a resounding success.

As draws to a close, we're highlighting another significant announcement from South Australia's defence industry. 👏

Adelaide-based Praetorian Aeronautics has partnered with defence prime Rheinmetall to unveil AERIE - a prototype containerised Counter-Uncrewed Aircraft System.

Developed through a collaborative R&D partnership and brought to life in just 12 months, AERIE combines Praetorian's Australian-designed Arrow Interceptor and Hadrian AI-enhanced Command and Control system with Rheinmetall’s air defence engineering and production expertise.
