āReconciliation is all of us sitting at the same tableā¦to share knowledge, respect and space.ā
Junction resident Colleenās words capture the heart of this yearās National Reconciliation Week theme, āAll Inā. For Colleen, Reconciliation is meaningful only when it is lived.
A talented photographer, Colleen first picked up a camera as a creative outlet - but it quickly grew into something deeper: a responsibility to her culture and community.
āI was so tired of seeing my people shown without strength or pride,ā Colleen said. āWe are so much more than that. Weāre strong. Weāre resilient. We've got beauty in our culture, and I wanted to show it.ā
Her work now centers on preserving culture, uplifting community voices and presenting Aboriginal identity with dignity and resilience. That same spirit is what shapes her view of reconciliation.
