Celebration Time
The Bendigo Bank branch at Coolalinga recently celebrated 20 years of service to our community. Marking this milestone, members of volunteer bushfire brigades were invited to an afternoon tea - a gesture which recognised the dedication of volunteer rural fire fighters who give so much of their time to protect rural residents and properties. Bendigo Bank Chairperson of Coolalinga & Districts, Jan Young gifted volunteer bushfire brigades with a donation of $5,000 each.

Acacia Hills Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Captain Kim Fox and Treasurer Sheree Mulreany proudly attended on behalf of the brigade to receive the donation. As a volunteer organisation we appreciate the donation and extend our heartfelt gratitude to Bendigo Bank for their ongoing support.
Congratulations to all.

VALE - Mrs Grace Vance

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our amazing Grace on Thursday, 3 September 2026.

Grace will be fondly remembered for her unwavering commitment to our brigade and to the community. Always working quietly behind the scenes, she was ready to lend a hand at events and provided vital welfare support to our firefighters on the front line.

Her dedication was recognised and honoured in 2024 when she received a Certificate of Appreciation from our brigade, and again in 2025 when she was named a finalist in the NT Volunteer of the Year Awards. Grace was a shining example of the belief that no matter your age, you always have something valuable to contribute and give back to your community.

Our love and condolences go to Grace’s family, friends, and all brigade members as we mourn her passing and celebrate her extraordinary contribution. Thank you Grace and Rest In Eternal Peace.

The weekend that was - intense, exhausting and a sobering reminder of how fast conditions can escalate in the Northern Territory. When several wildfires ignited at once, the pressure on brigades and volunteer crews was immense -physically draining, emotionally heavy and made even harder with resources already stretched thin.

Volunteer firefighters and BFNT crews pushed through long hours, smoke, heat and uncertainty to protect homes, communities and lives.
These photos taken just south of Acacia Hills barely scratch the surface of what was happening on the ground — but they tell a story of grit, teamwork and unwavering determination to bring this particular fire under control.

Sincere acknowledgement to the volunteer firefighters from:

Berry Springs Volunteer Bushfire Brigade

Elizabeth Valley Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Inc

Darwin River Volunteer Bushfire Brigade

Labasheba Park Volunteer
Bushfire Brigade

Lambells Lagoon Volunteer Bushfire Brigade.

Acacia Hills Volunteer Bushfire Brigade

Manton Volunteer Bushfire Brigade

And to the BFNT crews, the aerial water bombers, heavy machine operators and every person behind the scenes who kept operations running -thank you. This was teamwork at its absolute best - quite swell of pride when you realise you’re part of something so genuinely good!

If you see a fire or suspicious activity report it immediately - dial 000.

Members of the Acacia Hills Volunteer Bushfire Brigade swapped out their firefighting gear and dressed up for the Siam Gala 2026 Dinner Under the Stars held at Tou’s Gardens. It was a truly magical night - the kind of event where community spirit and glamour meet under the mango trees.

Thank you to Tou and her crew for hosting this event - it’s a real investment in the community’s morale and nights like these remind everyone why local connections matter.

Hazard / Reduction Burns… a note of thanks.

The Acacia Hills Volunteer Bushfire Brigade has wrapped up several weeks of hazard / reduction burns - mission accomplished!
These prescribed burns take serious planning, teamwork and grit - all to keep our community safe and support the well being of our volunteer firefighters.

Sincere gratitude to Tou and crew from Tou’s Gardens for providing additional water tankers and feeding our team after each burn. Also a big shout out to those behind the scenes brigade members who kept it all moving.

To the Acacia Hills residents who prepped their fire breaks and left their gates open - you made the job safer and easier.

Our local volunteer firefighters are acknowledged for their professionalism, commitment and resilience - sets the standard! When you read this post you may wonder why we do what we do? The answer is simple and profound - we do it for our community because there is no greater calling than to protect the people and places we love!
