While you're out and about this weekend, check out a new sculpture by the Maribyrnong river.

Babanh-u laangi-yuuyuk-a (Mother of Pearl) is a playable sculpture by Edwina Green commissioned through a recovery grant after the flood in 2022. Thank you Moonee Valley City Council for inviting us to the launch on Thursday as part of Reconciliation Week.

It represents the turbulence and waves of water and the emotions connected to the flood - as well as calm and beauty.

These big kids had a lot of fun playing on it on Thursday! Find it next to The Boathouse cafe in Moonee Ponds when you're ready for your own fun!

On Saturday, volunteers from VICSES Essendon Unit stood along side our community at Anzac Day ceremonies across Moonee Valley.
Anzac Day is a time to remember, reflect, and honour those who have served, past and present.
The ANZAC spirit of courage, mateship, and sacrifice guides our volunteers in serving the community.

There will be heavy rain across Victoria today and tomorrow 2 March.

Bureau of Meteorology issued a Flood Watch for the Maribyrnong River. River and creek level rises, and areas of minor to moderate flooding may develop from Monday morning.

Don’t drive, walk or play in floodwater.

Decide what you and your family will do if flooding impacts you.

For information on how to prepare go to www.ses.vic.gov.au/get-ready/floodsafe.

We’re disappointed to let you know that the Essendon SES unit was broken in the very early hours of Wednesday, 25 February.

Valuable equipment was taken, including chainsaws, power tools and ropes. Several of our vehicles were also significantly damaged and are unable to be used.

We are grateful to have assistance from neighbouring SES units to support our response while we work to replace and repair what has been broken/taken. If you need help from us, please call 132 500.

We are a volunteer unit who provides 24/7 assistance to the community in times of need. If you would like to support us, please donate to our GiveNow fundraiser. Every dollar goes towards helping our volunteers show up for the Moonee Valley community. givenow.com.au/vicses-essendon
