UNIS Vienna is part of a network of United Nations Information Centres spanning the globe, from Accra to Yaoundé, which are part of the Department of Global Communications (DGC). We share a common goal: to help fulfil the substantive purposes of the United Nations by communicating the activities and concerns of the Organization to the public. UNIS V

ienna plays a dual role: as UN Information Centre it serves four client countries - Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. By serving as the local voice of the UN in these countries, UNIS Vienna aims to promote an informed understanding of the work and goals of the United Nations, by reaching out to media, government, academia, schools and civil society organizations. UNIS also provides public information support and promotional services to the substantive programmes of the United Nations based in Vienna and acts as Secretariat to the United Nations Communications Group in Vienna. Wir haben uns sehr gefreut, heute gemeinsam mit Kolleg:innen von UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) und UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency am Berufsbildertag von Uniport Karriereservice Universität Wien an der Universität Wien teilzunehmen.

Wir hatten die Gelegenheit, mit zahlreichen engagierten und interessierten Studierenden und Uni-Absolvent:innen ins Gespräch zu kommen, Fragen zu beantworten und über berufliche Möglichkeiten bei den Vereinten Nationen zu sprechen.

Wir bedanken uns herzlich bei allen, die vorbeigekommen sind und ihr Interesse an der Arbeit der Vereinten Nationen gezeigt haben.

Monica Juma, Exekutivdirektorin von UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, sprach am Montag vor der UN-Generalversammlung im Rahmen der ersten Debatte zum Thema Umweltkriminalität.

Im Mittelpunkt der Debatte stand die zunehmende Verbindung zwischen Straftaten, die Ökosysteme und Lebensgrundlagen zerstören und die Rechtsstaatlichkeit schädigen – Straftaten, an denen häufig grenzüberschreitende kriminelle Netzwerke beteiligt sind.

Frau Juma betonte UNODC's Engagement für globale Maßnahmen durch die Unterstützung der Strafverfolgung und koordinierter Aktionen zur Bekämpfung dieser Straftaten und zum Schutz unseres Planeten.

Österreich wurde zusammen mit vier weiteren Ländern für eine Amtszeit von zwei Jahren in den UNO Sicherheitsrat gewählt.

Am Mittwoch sicherten sich , , und Tobago, und Plätze in dem UN-Gremium, das sich der friedlichen Lösung von Konflikten und der Kriegsverhütung widmet. Sie werden ihre Amtszeit im Januar 2027 antreten.
