Job opening: Teamleader, English and “Allround” Teacher for 12 to 15year olds at Montessori International Junior Highschool
The International Highschool Herzogberg in Perchtoldsdorf (postcode: 2380, close to Vienna and the Vienna Woods) has a vacancy for a Team Leader: English native speaker and general education teacher (ideally with a focus on science - chemistry, physics, biology AND/OR economics) or Montessori Adolescents trained teacher starting August/September 2024 (or part-time February 2024).
The International Highschool Herzogberg offers programmes for 12 to 15 year olds in 3 classes with a maximum of 16 students per class. It is located on a 12,000m² site on the outskirts of Vienna, close to the Wienerwald and easily accessible from Liesing station. You will find a really nice atmosphere, an experienced and very positive team, a great parent community and last but not least: 45 teenagers who need guidance and a person with a big heart to guide them through puberty and trust in their ability to learn and work on themselves!
The job involves teaching students in Years 7 to 9 Monday to Friday from 08:30 until around 12:30 or 13:00 and leading our team for this age group throughout the year!
Salary: Minimum (depending on experience and qualifications) 2650€ for approx. 25 hours per week, paid 14 times per year; 13 weeks paid holiday; delicious freshly cooked vegetarian lunches and snacks included daily; Montessori and German training available; daycare for your child available;
Specific responsibilities:
- Monday and Friday: Teaching physics, chemistry, biology or economics to 7th, 8th and 9th graders
- Tuesday to Thursday: Planning and supervising 6-week research projects (Montessori Work&Studies) in a field in which you are good or already trained (presenting the topic, helping the students with their research and their final presentations).
- Leading a "core group" of 16 students and coaching them in their personal and academic development throughout the year.
- Detailed lesson planning and documentation of student progress
- Mentoring students in their individual development
- Ensuring a natural and positive appreciation of science, language and history in all its forms
- Organise parents' evenings and student-teacher meetings
- Leading your team and looking after YOUR 45 students

- Motivation to provide individual support to pupils
Minimum requirements:
- European work permit
- University degree
- At least 2 years' experience of teaching or working with young people
- English mother tongue
- Basic IT skills (for email communication and use of online learning platform)
- Good general health
- Good psychological condition
