The Football World Cup may already feel like a distant memory… but we still owe you one winner. ⚽🏆

Throughout the tournament, our Expat V community put their football knowledge – and perhaps a little luck – to the test in our Fun Betting Game.

And one person clearly knew what he was doing: Arpit! 🎉

His winning strategy?
“I just chose the most likely result and didn’t take much risk.”

Sounds simple enough. The only problem: we suspect quite a few others tried exactly the same approach – and Arpit still won by quite some margin. 😉

Congratulations, Arpit! 👏 Enjoy your well-deserved box filled with local products from Vorarlberg handed over by Expat Service Vorarlberg Community Manager Jakob. 🎁

“It almost feels like being by the sea.” 🌊

Alright, we admit it: Vorarlberg doesn’t exactly have a coastline. But on a warm summer evening, Lake Constance comes pretty close. ☀️

That’s one of the reasons we love our annual Expat V Barbecue so much. Everyone brings their own food and drinks, we light a fire, settle in by the lake and simply enjoy the evening together. 🔥

And then there’s the sunset. Definitely one of those moments that makes you stop for a second and just take it all in. 🌅

What made this year’s barbecue especially lovely was seeing so many people join our Expat V community for the very first time. New faces, easy conversations and plenty of chances to make new connections.

Sometimes, feeling at home in a new place starts with something as simple as sharing food by the lake. 💛

Another fun Board Game Night! 🎲🃏

Once again, our community came together for an evening full of cards, board games, laughter and a little friendly competition. 😄 Between clever moves and unexpected victories, there was plenty of time to chat, meet new people and simply enjoy the evening together. 🌍✨

A big thank you to Jelena & Jalil for hosting and creating such a welcoming atmosphere once again. 💛 And thanks to everyone who joined – already looking forward to the next round! 🎉

Which riders have won the Tour de France five times? 🧐🚴‍♀️

Just one of the questions at the Pool Quiz Poolbar Festival Feldkirch. 🧠🎶

Three Expat V groups joined the quiz alongside around 300 participants and did their best to answer as many questions as possible.

To sum it up: it was definitely not a beginner’s quiz. 😂

Anyway, we had a great time at the wonderful Poolbar Festival. At least we could catch up, think about topics we had never even heard of before, and enjoy the summer vibes. ☀️🍹

Summer in Vorarlberg means festival season – and sometimes, the dance floor comes with a rather spectacular view. 🌅🎶

For the third time, the Sunset Horizon Festival brought music, people and plenty of good energy to one of the region’s most stunning locations. The name really does say it all: few places offer such a wide and impressive view of the horizon.

A group from our Expat V community made the most of it and enjoyed ten hours of music, beautiful scenery and great company. 🌍✨ And yes – even the shyest among us were spotted on the dance floor at some point. A festival success, we’d say. 💃🕺

A big thank you to Adrian Ground – an expat himself – for organising the festival and inviting our community to be part of this special day. 🙌

What do you need to feel truly at home in Vorarlberg? German helps, of course. The dialect is already a brave next step. And then comes the second great integration challenge: Jassen. 😉🃏

At our Jassen evening, expats and locals came together around the table to dive into one of Vorarlberg’s most popular card games. The locals patiently explained the rules, shared their best tips, and helped our expats through the first rounds – with plenty of laughter whenever the cards had a mind of their own. ♦️♣️

And while everyone was busy learning, playing, and occasionally wondering what just happened, something even more important happened naturally alongside it: people connected. Conversations started, experiences were exchanged, and new contacts were made in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. 😊

A big thank you to everyone who joined and brought such openness, curiosity, and good humour to the evening. 👏

🌱 Growing more than just vegetables in Dornbirn 🌿

Last Saturday, our Expat V community joined locals at Essbare Stadt Dornbirn for a lovely Community Gardening Day in the Kulturhauspark. Around 15 expats came along, ready to get their hands dirty. 🧑‍🌾🌍

Together, we tended the garden, planted, chatted and enjoyed a shared Jause afterwards. Simple, hands-on, and full of good energy. 😊🥪

What made the morning so special was seeing expats and Vorarlbergers working side by side. Sometimes integration starts very naturally – with soil on your hands, a few seedlings in the ground, and a conversation that continues after the gardening is done. 🌱🤝

Together, we didn’t only plant seeds for future healthy food. We may also have planted the first seeds of future friendships.

A heartfelt thank you to Essbare Stadt Dornbirn for welcoming our international community so warmly and for creating such a meaningful project in the heart of Dornbirn. We’d be very happy to continue this tradition next year. 💚

A cosy film night, a room full of laughter, and around 25 lovely people coming together.🎬✨

We watched Willkommen bei den Hartmanns together in German, which was quite a brave move by many in the room. 👏🇩🇪
(ok, we admit, we provided English subtitles as well 😉)

What better way to connect than by laughing about cultural misunderstandings we all recognise in one way or another? 😂🌍 The film gave us plenty of funny moments, but also the nice feeling that these little clashes and confusions are often exactly what make life abroad so memorable.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Dornbirn for this relaxed and cheerful evening. 🍿💛 Nights like this remind us how easy connection can feel when people share a story, a few laughs, and some snacks.

🔥 Last Sunday, our Expat V community met in Dornbirn to experience one of Vorarlberg’s most loved traditions: the Funken — a huge bonfire to say goodbye to winter.

❄️ And judging by the weather, we can officially confirm: winter was successfully chased away.

🎶 With music, regional specialities and drinks, it was the perfect setting to meet locals, connect, and enjoy the evening together.

🍩 Of course, we also tried a true Funken-weekend highlight: Funkaküachle — a delicious sweet dough fritter you only get at Funken weekend.

🙌 A big thank you to Adam (himself an expat from Hungary) for hosting and bringing the community together.

What a lovely board game evening at Pancho’s Cantina! 🎲 It was a great night for all board game enthusiasts — plenty of laughs, good company, and a really relaxed atmosphere 😊

We discovered some new games 🃏, got a few favourites back on the table ♟️, and met some genuinely nice people along the way 🤝

It’s always a bit easier to connect when you’re playing together 💬✨
