The Delegation of the European Union to Albania is supporting the country in its path towards integration into the EU. The Delegation manages EU Assistance programmes and informs the Albanian public, decision-makers and opinion-formers about the integration its policies. The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Albania is a permanent diplomatic mission. The Delegation was establishe

d in 1993 when the European Commission decided to upgrade its Office of the Special Envoy to a full Delegation in the light of the positive democratic development, which had taken place. The Delegation's main tasks are the following:
• Facilitate the development of political and economic relations between the EU and Albania in the framework of the Stabilization and Association Process (SAP), which is the strategy for helping Albania in its path towards integration into the EU.
• Managing EU Assistance programmes.
• Disseminating information on the EU, informing the Albanian general public, decision-makers and opinion formers about the integration process, EU institutions and its policies. Head of Delegation of the European Union in Albania, since August 2022, is Ms Christiane Hohmann.

Leaders met yesterday, 5 June, in Tivat, Montenegro, for the EU-Western Balkans Summit.

Under the theme "Shared Prosperity and Stability of the EU and the Western Balkans", leaders discussed progress in the gradual integration of the Western Balkans into the EU, as well as shared security and defence challenges.

The summit reaffirmed the EU's full and unequivocal commitment to the European future of the Western Balkans and to deepening cooperation across the region.

Jemi krenarë që kemi mbështetur 22 gazetarë dhe profesionistë të medias nga e gjithë Shqipëria për t’i kthyer idetë e tyre në projekte konkrete. Përmes filmave të tyre të shkurtër, ata u kanë dhënë zë njerëzve më të cënueshëm të shoqërisë shqiptare. Mirënjohje për Albanian Women in Audiovisual dhe SCiDEV, që i kanë mbështetur në çdo hap të prodhimit dhe në forcimin e zërave të pavarur.

Today, on June 5th, World Environment Day, we introduce you to Fliko, the nature protector.

“Nature is a green paradise! People, animals, plants, land, and water live in harmony in this great home. We are lucky to have it.”

This is how Fliko’s journey begins, a character who speaks to children and invites them into an adventure full of discoveries, where nature is not only meant to be seen, but to be loved and protected.

“Fliko, the nature protector” is an educational book for children, created within the framework of the campaign “Protect nature, while you still can”, which brings simple and engaging knowledge about ecosystems, living beings, and the importance of environmental protection. ☘️

In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, this book will be distributed for free in schools, encouraging children to become little explorers of nature and its future protectors.

Çfarë mund të na tregojnë krijesat e vogla që jetojnë në fund të lumenjve për mjedisin?

Që prej vitit 2025, projekti EU4Rivers 🇪🇺 ka mbledhur mostra makroinvertebrorësh në më shumë se 60 pika lumore në të gjithë Shqipërinë, për të vlerësuar gjendjen ekologjike të ekosistemeve të ujërave të ëmbla. Këta organizma shërbejnë si tregues natyrorë të cilësisë së ujit dhe gjendjes së habitateve lumore.

Kjo video sjell pamje nga puna në terren dhe bashkëpunimi për forcimin e monitorimit mjedisor në Shqipëri.

Projekti EU4Rivers bashkëfinancohet nga Bashkimi Evropian dhe Agjencia Austriake për Zhvillim, dhe zbatohet nga Agjencia Austriake për Zhvillim, si pjesë e International Partnerships Austria.

What can tiny creatures at the bottom of a river tell us about the environment?

Since 2025, the EU4Rivers🇪🇺 project has sampled macroinvertebrates in more than 60 river sites across Albania to assess the ecological health of freshwater ecosystems.
These organisms act as natural indicators of water quality and river habitat conditions.

This video shows the fieldwork and cooperation behind stronger environmental monitoring practices in Albania.

The EU4Rivers project is co-financed by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency and implemented by the Austrian Development Agency, as part of International Partnerships Austria.

Një Shkollë Magjistrature më performuese do të thotë një sistem drejtësie më i fortë dhe një rrugë më e shpejtë drejt integrimit evropian.
Gjatë dy viteve të fundit, Shkolla Shqiptare e Magjistraturës ka përfituar nga një projekt binjakëzimi i mbështetur nga Bashkimi Evropian, me ekspertë nga Franca, Italia dhe Holanda. Nisma ndihmoi në përmirësimin e cilësisë së trajnimit fillestar dhe të vazhdueshëm për gjyqtarët dhe prokurorët, si dhe në forcimin e sistemit të provimeve të pranimit.

“Shkolla është gurthemeli i zhvillimit profesional të gjyqtarëve, prokurorëve dhe këshilltarëve ligjorë. Ajo duhet të edukojë, frymëzojë, udhëheqë dhe, në fund, të formësojë vlerat dhe standardet që do t’i shoqërojnë gjatë karrierës së tyre. Kjo është ajo që qytetarët presin nga Shkolla dhe ajo për të cilën drejtuesit e saj duhet të mbajnë përgjegjësi.
Ne duam që gjyqtarët, prokurorët dhe këshilltarët ligjorë të së ardhmes të jenë të qëndrueshëm, të pavarur, të udhëhequr nga vlera të forta etike dhe të aftë të ruajnë integritetin e tyre përballë çdo presioni apo ndikimi. Mbështetja jonë për Shkollën synon pikërisht këtë,” tha Ambasadori i BE-së, Silvio Gonzato.

A more performing School of Magistrates means a stronger justice system and a faster path toward European integration.
Over the past two years, the Albanian School of Magistrates has benefited from a Twinning project supported by the European Union with experts from France, Italy, and the Netherlands. The initiative helped improve the quality of both initial and continuous training for judges and prosecutors, while also strengthening the system for entry examinations.

“The School is the cornerstone of the professional development of judges, prosecutors, and legal advisors. It has to educate, inspire, mentor, and ultimately shape the values and standards that will guide their careers. This is what citizens expect from the School and what its leadership has to be accountable for.
We want future judges, prosecutors, and legal advisors to be resilient, independent, guided by strong ethical values, and capable of preserving their integrity in the face of any pressure or influence. Our support for the School aims at achieving precisely that,” said EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.

Lufta kundër korrupsionit dhe krimit të organizuar kërkon më shumë se ndjekje penale të suksesshme. Ajo kërkon ndryshime të qëndrueshme sistemike.

Sot, përfaqësues të institucioneve të drejtësisë, autoriteteve shtetërore, shoqërisë civile dhe partnerëve ndërkombëtarë diskutuan mbi ecurinë e institucioneve të specializuara të Shqipërisë kundër korrupsionit dhe krimit të organizuar, pas prezantimit të një raporti mbi këtë temë nga Qendra për Studimin e Demokracisë dhe Qeverisjes.

“Reforma në drejtësi në Shqipëri po jep rezultate në luftën kundër korrupsionit dhe krimit të organizuar, por kjo luftë duhet të jetë e qëndrueshme dhe e pakthyeshme. Rruga përpara kërkon hetime financiare sistematike dhe proaktive, konfiskim të shpejtë të aseteve, kapacitete më të forta për provat digjitale, mbrojtje të dëshmitarëve dhe sinjalizuesve, si dhe angazhim të gjithë shoqërisë për llogaridhënie,” tha Ambasadori i BE-së Silvio Gonzato.

The fight against corruption and organised crime requires more than successful prosecutions, it requires lasting systemic change.

Today, representatives of justice institutions, state authorities, civil society, and international partners discussed the performance of Albania’s specialised anti-corruption and anti-organised crime institutions, following a report on this topic presented by the Centre for the Study of Democracy and Governance.

“Albania’s justice reform is delivering results in fighting corruption and organized crime, but this fight must be sustainable and irreversible. The path forward requires systematic and proactive financial investigations, swift asset confiscations, stronger digital evidence capabilities, protection of witnesses and whistleblowers, and a whole-of-society commitment to accountability,” said EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.
