The High School of Foreign Languages was opened in
Tirana on September 15, 1965. It started its activity with the
teaching of the English and Russian languages. The Italian,
German and Spanish languages were introduced into the school
in the 1979-1980 academic year, and their teaching lasted four
years to resume in 1990. Some general subjects as history,
geography etc. have been taught in foreign
languages since 1980.Italian-Albanian and French-Albanian bilingual sections
were opened in 1998.Since the year 2004, the curriculum for the foreignlanguages branch has changed, providing the students with theopportunity to learn three foreign languages, one language in addition to the previous two, and introducing the subjects of
informatics and psychology.In 1977 the school was named after Asim Vokshi. The school is involved in a reforming process for the qualitative increase of teaching and learning, which aims at:the equipment of students with contemporary knowledge and functional skills to prepare them for the pursuit of their university studies and to meet the demands of labour market. The education of human ethic values, and European as well as Albanian cultural values to make the students aware and prepare them for their active role and the
integration into a global society, for the respect of human rights and the preservation of the natural heritage and clean environment the development of students’awareness, abilities and character
to be lifelong learners.The accomplishment of these goals is achieved through curricular and extracurricular activities, as well as the projects the school is involved in.
