International Girls in ICT day is an initiative by ITU and a day held annually around the world with the purpose to rais awareness on the growing importance of females in the ICT sector. All ITU members are celebrating this day every fourth week of April to support the creation of a global environment that empowers girls and young women as well as boys and young men to consider careers in the growing field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
Afghanistan is also one of those countries who is celebrating this day annually in order to support and encourage huge participation of females in the Technology field.
This year the event will help to enable girls, Technology companies, economies, and people around the country to have the benefits of greater female participation in a more inclusive ICT Sector.
