Two things can be true at the same time…

We are safe. 🙏
We trust the UAE leadership and the systems in place to protect us and keep life moving forward.

And… we’re also tired.
Mentally and emotionally — carrying that quiet weight of uncertainty, staying alert, and still showing up fully for our little ones.

So we do what we can — create small pockets of joy, normalcy, and comfort for our kids… and for ourselves. 💛

Praying for peace, for calm, and for wiser decisions from those who lead the world. 🌍✨

When children feel worried, the most important things we can give them are reassurance, routine, and calm conversations. Reading together, telling stories, and answering their questions simply can go a long way in helping them feel secure.

Sometimes the goal of a story isn’t just entertainment — it’s comfort. 💛

I love this story so much because it speaks from a place of strength and security. I thought it was such a brilliant way to remind kids that there are always people working hard to keep them safe.

We’ve been reading Lizard and Toad in The Windy Day and Other Stories over the last few nights, and the twins quickly grew fond of the characters. 🦎🐸

Set in a wadi in the UAE, this collection of short stories follows two very different friends—careful, clever Lizard and adventurous, trouble-prone Toad. In each story, Toad’s big ideas (like flying a human kite or getting a closer look at humans celebrating Eid) land him in sticky situations, and Lizard is never far behind with a quick rescue or a smart solution.

What I loved most is how, by the fourth night, the kids were already so familiar with the characters—they were anticipating what Toad might do next and rooting for Lizard to save the day. It’s such a lovely way to explore friendship, differences in personalities, problem-solving, and everyday adventures in a setting that feels close to home. Perfect for short, cozy reads before bed. 🌙📚
