خلال مؤتمر المفاعلات النووية في أوروبا وأفريقيا والشرق الأوسط، قدم محمد المزروعي أخصائي اللوائح والإرشادات في الهيئة، عرضاً عن جاهزية القطاع الرقابي لمواكبة تطوير المفاعلات النموذجية الصغيرة، حيث أشار إلى تجربة الإمارات في تطوير برنامجها النووي السلمي والإطار الرقابي الفعال
وأشار المزروعي أيضاً إلى رغبة كثير من الدول في تبني واستخدام التقنيات النووية المبتكرة، بما أنها تعتبر أقل تكلفةً وأكثر مرونةً، حيث سلط الضوء على التحديات الرقابية التي يجب حلها لضمان أمن وأمان هذه المفاعلات النووية، إضافةً إلى إمكانياتها المحتملة في تشغيل محطات تحلية المياه في الإمارات.
Mohamed Almazrouei, FANR’s Regulations & Guidelines Specialist, highlighted the regulatory readiness for the deployment of small modular reactors, showcasing the UAE’s nuclear energy journey & agile regulatory framework developed in the country, during a presentation at the Europe, Middle East, and Africa Modular & UK Large Reactors 2026 Conference in London.
Almazrouei elaborated on the growing global interest in SMR’s as a flexible, low-cost energy solution, highlighting their potential applications in powering desalination plants in the UAE, as well the regulatory challenges that have to be addressed in order to ensure the safe and secure adoption of such technologies.
