ABU DHABI 08 June 2026 – The Philippine Embassy, led by H.E. Ambassador Alfonso A. Ver, together with the Migrant Workers Office-Abu Dhabi (MWO-Abu Dhabi), the Office of the Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attache (OPhil DAFA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG held a flag-raising ceremony at the MWO-Abu Dhabi premises on 08 June 2026 in commemoration of the 31st Migrant Workers’ Day.
The commemoration served as a fitting tribute to the invaluable contributions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), whose resilience, dedication, and sacrifices continue to uplift Filipino families and contribute significantly to the nation’s growth and development.
The program was further enriched by messages from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Secretary of Migrant Workers Hans Leo J. Cacdac, and OWWA Administrator Atty. Patricia Yvonne Caunan. They reaffirmed the Philippine Government’s unwavering commitment to promoting the welfare, protection, and empowerment of OFWs and their families, while recognizing their enduring role in nation-building.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ver paid tribute to the courage and perseverance of OFWs, particularly those in the UAE, stating: “Sa araw ng mga Manggagawa, kinikilala natin ang tapang, sipag, at sakripisyo ng mga Migranteng Pilipino.
Ambassador Ver underscored the Embassy’s continuing commitment, in partnership with MWO-Abu Dhabi and other Philippine government agencies in the UAE, to deliver responsive, efficient, and meaningful services that support the well-being and aspirations of the Filipino community.
Observed annually on 7 June, Migrant Workers’ Day honors the modern-day heroes whose hard work, dedication, and sacrifices transcend borders. The occasion serves as a reminder of the vital role OFWs play in advancing the welfare of their families, strengthening communities, and contributing to the economic and social progress of the Philippines.
