Security Alert: U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi and U.S. Consulate General Dubai – September 1, 2026

Due to tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation.

Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential of flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.

Check your flight’s departure status with the airline directly or through:

• Abu Dhabi: https://www.zayedinternationalairport.ae/

• Dubai: https://dubaiairports.ae/home

Americans traveling to or from the region should monitor information about airport and airline operations.

U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.

Consular assistance to Americans is available. Americans who require passport or other consular services should contact us through the U.S. Citizen Services Navigator at https://ae.usembassy.gov/services/. Select your preferred location, and our consular team will respond by email with instructions. Limited Non-immigrant Visa appointments are available. All Immigrant Visa services remain suspended.

Actions to Take:

• Enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy to contact you in an emergency. Carefully review the Travel Advisory for the UAE.

• If an aerial attack occurs, stay away from glass doors, windows, and any fallen debris, and monitor your phone and news outlets for official guidance.

• Keep your cell phone charged and pre-programmed with the emergency numbers listed below.

• Be aware of your surroundings.

• Avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings.

• Avoid all areas where there is a heavy police presence.

• Monitor local media.

• Follow the instructions of local authorities.

• Contact your airline directly for flight change details if your flight is affected.

• Exercise caution and stay alert at locations publicly associated with the United States.

• Keep a low profile.

Assistance:

• Dial 999 for emergency services in UAE.

• Contact the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai by visiting https://ae.usembassy.gov/services/, scrolling down to the “U.S. Citizen Services Navigator,” and clicking on your preferred location.

• U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi emergency number: +971-2-414-2200

• U.S. Consulate General Dubai emergency number: +971-4-309-4000

Congratulations, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi!

———-
from Guggenheim New York

Our constellation of museums is growing! Guggenheim Abu Dhabi opens December 11, 2026.

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (Guggenheim Abu Dhabi) will deepen intercultural understanding, expand perspectives, and offer new ways to engage with the art of our time. Its collection spans art from the 1960s to the present, bringing together works from every continent — uniquely local and global, rooted in the region and in dialogue with the world.

Located in the Saadiyat Cultural District (Saadiyat Cultural District), the museum designed by Frank Gehry spans 30 galleries connected by a central atrium and ten sculptural cones that articulate the building’s dynamic skyline, and expands into outdoor exhibition areas.

From New York to Venice, Bilbao, and now Abu Dhabi — four distinct museums, one constellation.
