The ASEAN Ambassadors resident in the UAE were delighted to have an informal lunch with HE Francisco J. Chacรณn Hernรกndez, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Costa Rica to the UAE on 22 June 2026.

Current Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Abu Dhabi Ambassador Kamal R Vaswani was pleased to host the gathering which featured an informal exchange of views on a wide range of topics, including domestic, regional and international developments. It was a good opportunity to exchange notes and share best practices.

Thanks to Desert Lotus restaurant and Chef/Owner Buaban C Tucker for curating the delicious Southeast Asian flavours!

We look forward to more exchanges of views in the future with the Dean and other regional groupings!

Singapore welcomes the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United States of America and Iran to cease all military operations in the Middle East and establish a framework for further negotiations on outstanding issues. We commend the efforts of the mediators that have made this possible, in particular Pakistan and Qatar. A resolution of the outstanding issues in accordance with international law will create the necessary conditions for lasting peace, security, and stability in the region.

Singapore further welcomes the commitment under the MOU to reopen the Strait of Hormuz โ€“ a Strait Used for International Navigation and a critical conduit for maritime trade. We urge all parties to uphold their obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and customary international law with respect to safe and unimpeded transit passage in the Strait of Hormuz, and to protect the safety and wellbeing of seafarers and ships in the region.

The Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi was thrilled to host an unexpected visit by several young falcons today! The falcon is the national bird of the UAE and a symbol of the country's heritage.โœจ

These young falcons stopped by the Embassy of the ๐Ÿฆ city for a curious look around - a lovely reminder of the UAEโ€™s deep connection to falconry.

Todayโ€™s visitors may have arrived without appointments, but we were happy to make an exception! ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช
