GOVERNMENT DRIVES INDUSTRIAL GROWTH THROUGH STRONGER INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS

This afternoon, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Amb. T.T. Chifamba, visited Nestlé Zimbabwe in Harare as Government continues to strengthen public-private sector partnerships, address challenges affecting industry and create an enabling environment for increased production.

Nestlé Zimbabwe has 4 roller dryers in Zimbabwe, while its Harare facilities have a cereals processing plant capacity of 10,700MT and a milk processing plant capacity of 10,920MT.

Government remains committed to promoting value addition, local production and job creation, while working with industry to eliminate bottlenecks that constrain productivity and economic growth.

These engagements reaffirm Government’s confidence in the continued growth of Zimbabwe’s industrial sector as we accelerate structural transformation and advance towards .

MARRYING THEORY WITH INDUSTRY: DRIVING INDUSTRIALISATION

Today, Minister of Industry and Commerce Hon. N.M. Ndhlovu is at Bulawayo Polytechnic for a lecture under the theme: “Harnessing Students’ Potential for Industrialisation and Vision 2030.”

Through Education 5.0, tertiary institutions are playing a pivotal role in driving innovation, empowerment and industrialisation. Zimbabwe has witnessed the growth of innovation hubs, industrial parks and transformative innovations emerging from its institutions of higher learning.

The lecture provides a platform for students to engage Minister Ndhlovu on strategies to strengthen the contribution of tertiary institutions to economic development.
As Zimbabwe industrialises, industry continues to look to tertiary institutions for innovative, practical and fit-for-purpose solutions.

The Ministry recognises that policies alone do not manufacture products, and strategies alone do not operate factories. It is people who implement policies, drive innovation and power industrial growth.

The education sector is therefore continuously adapting to respond to the changing needs of industry.

The lecture was organised by the ZICOSU Bulawayo Chapter.

AGRICULTURE + INDUSTRY: POWERING VALUE-ADDED GROWTH

Director for Northern Region in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Mr. D. Nhema, representing Permanent Secretary Amb. T.T. Chifamba, said Zimbabwe’s National Industrial Development Policy 2 and Local Content Strategy are driving value addition, local production and economic growth.

Speaking at the 2026 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show Breakfast Meeting in Harare, Mr. Nhema said strengthening linkages between agriculture, technology and commerce is key to transforming agricultural output into value-added products, creating jobs and growing the economy.

The thrust resonates with this year’s theme: “Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge.”

PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA COMMISSIONS DAVIPEL'S LANDMARK MANUFACTURING FACILITIES

President H.E. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa today officially commissioned the Davipel Holdings Headquarters, Snacks Manufacturing and Agri Milling Stock Feeds Plant in Harare, applauding the company's growing market share, job creation and integrated value chain model.

The President said Davipel, a 100% Zimbabwean-owned company, is a living testament to the mantra "Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo." He urged industry to scale up value addition and beneficiation, forge partnerships with emerging entrepreneurs across all provinces to advance devolution, and seize opportunities within Special Economic Zones.

Reaffirming that Zimbabwe is Open for Business, the President underscored Government's commitment to policy consistency and building a competitive, export-oriented economy that drives sustainable industrialisation.

BUY ZIMBABWE, BUILD ZIMBABWE - MINISTER NDHLOVU

Today, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon. N.M. Ndhlovu, delivered remarks at the official opening of the new Davipel Holdings Headquarters and the commissioning of the Davipel Snacks Manufacturing and Agri-Milling Stock Feeds Plant at Sunway City Special Economic Zone.

The Minister hailed Davipel as a shining example of Zimbabwean enterprise, demonstrating how local investment, innovation and resilience are driving the country's industrial resurgence under the Second Republic.

Hon. Ndhlovu reaffirmed Government's resolve to reduce the US$2.5 billion import bill by accelerating local manufacturing through the Local Content Strategy, strengthening value addition and beneficiation, and leveraging public procurement to prioritise Zimbabwean-made products. He also announced targeted interventions to unlock agro-industrial and mining value chains, deepen domestic supply chains and build a competitive, export-oriented industrial economy.

DAVIPEL HOLDINGS EXPANDS MANUFACTURING FOOTPRINT

Today, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, H.E. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, will officially open the new Davipel Holdings Headquarters and commission the Davipel Snacks & Agri Milling Stock Feeds Plant at Sunway City Special Economic Zone in Harare. The occasion marks another significant milestone in Zimbabwe's industrialisation journey, as indigenous Zimbabwean businesses continue to answer the call to grow the economy, factory by factory.

Awarded Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status in 2019, Davipel Holdings exemplifies the Second Republic's commitment to supporting private sector-led industrialisation and investment. Founded in 2002, the company is 100% Zimbabwean-owned and now employs more than 600 people, predominantly women and youth, contributing to inclusive economic growth.

The investment also advances Zimbabwe's import substitution agenda by strengthening local manufacturing capacity and reducing reliance on imported products. In line with the Local Content Strategy, Davipel is creating value from locally available resources, supporting domestic supply chains, enhancing national competitiveness, and fostering sustainable industrial development.

EXPLORATION DRIVING INDUSTRIAL TRANSFORMATION

Vice President Hon. Gen. (Rtd) Dr. C.G.D.N. Chiwenga today graced the inaugural Exploration Symposium at as Guest of Honour, highlighting the strategic link between mineral exploration and industrial development. He noted that unlocking Zimbabwe’s mineral potential through exploration is critical to accelerating industrialisation, strengthening value chains and advancing the national development agenda.

Addressing delegates under the theme “Defining the Future of Zimbabwe through Exploration,” the Vice President underscored that Zimbabwe’s vast natural resource endowments are strategic assets in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He stressed the need to explore both known and untapped mineral resources to support economic transformation and drive sustainable growth.

He reaffirmed Government’s commitment to mineral beneficiation and value addition to enhance Zimbabwe’s competitiveness on the global stage, while also acknowledging the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies in driving exploration and industrial transformation.

The Vice President further called on industry and academia to strengthen skills development through knowledge transfer and student attachments to prepare a new generation of innovators and economic drivers.

The Vice President toured exhibition stands at , where he interacted with exhibitors and gained insights into innovations shaping the mining value chains. The Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon. R.I. Modi, and the Permanent Secretary Amb. T.T. Chifamba accompanied the Hon. Vice President on the tour.

Empowering Zimbabwe's Economy, Sector by Sector -
