Murdered cop yet to be buried amid demands for compensation

THE family of the traffic police officer, who was recently shot by her husband in Southley Park, are demanding compensation for them to bury the deceased.

Sergeant Portia Dzanwa is believed to have been killed by her husband and former police Special Constabulary Pharaoh Dombodzvuku, 52, after a row involving her daughter.

She is yet to be laid to rest.

Sgt Dzanwa was shot dead in a parked car. She was 36.

Dombodzvuku then turned the gun on himself and injured himself.

A family member told H-Metro that Sgt Dzanwa’s body is yet to be laid to rest as her family are demanding compensation and answers pertaining to the murder.

“We are still in pain, Sergeant Dzanwa is yet to buried.

“In-laws are demanding money, hanzi tinoda mhere.

“Kwakaendwa nemombe nhatu nemari US$500, vakuwasha vakamhanyiswa saka mweya wa Dzanwa woti kurwadziswa nekubatirwa mwanasikana wake hama dzake hadzisikuda azororezve.

“They tried to engage the police but the in-laws are sticking to their guns,” said a close relative.

Police investigations indicate that Dombodzvuku allegedly sexually abused Dzanwa’s 16-year-old daughter. The teenager later disclosed the matter to her mother.

The couple visited Dombodzvuku’s brother, Trymore, for counselling.

According to police, Dombodzvuku later requested privacy and asked his brother to leave them alone for a few minutes.

During that period, Trymore allegedly heard two gunshots and rushed to the vehicle, where he found Dzanwa dead and Dombodzvuku unconscious inside the parked car.

Dombodzvuku was admitted at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where he remains under police guard. - HMetro
