‎A HISTORIC LEAP TOWARDS A DIGITAL ZAMBIA: ZANACO & SMART ZAMBIA UNITE FOR NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION

‎Yesterday, we etched a bold new chapter in our nation's digital journey.
‎
‎I had the honour of hosting a distinguished Zanaco delegation led by their visionary CEO, Ms. Mukwandi Chibesakunda, alongside our Government Chief Technical Officer, Ms. Kasali Musenge. The room was filled with brilliant minds including Ms. Mutinta Tembo, Mr. Munalula Mulonda, Ms. Sophia Chongo Mudenda, Mr. Wisdom Shanegeta, and Mr. Kambole Kabwe.

‎This was far more than a courtesy call, it was a strategic convergence of purpose. We didn't just exchange pleasantries; we aligned visions, broke down silos, and mapped out concrete pathways to accelerate Zambia's digital agenda.
‎
‎The message is clear: Digital transformation is not a solo race, it is a national relay. The private sector is not just a spectator; they are a vital catalyst. Partnerships like this with Zanaco will power the infrastructure, innovation, and inclusivity needed to ensure no Zambian is left behind in the digital revolution.

‎We are moving beyond talk. We are building the digital backbone that will redefine how our nation delivers services, drives commerce, and empowers citizens.

BUILDING AN INCLUSIVE AI FUTURE FOR ZAMBIA

‎The true value of artificial intelligence lies not in the technology itself, but in its power to build local capacity and create equitable opportunities for all citizens.

‎I stated this today during the Seminar on China–Zambia Artificial Intelligence Cooperation in an address to His Excellency Han Jing, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Zambia.
‎
‎I emphasised that digital inclusion is a powerful equalizer, every Zambian must have access to the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital economy. By equipping our citizens with digital capabilities, children from humble backgrounds can compete on equal footing with those who have greater access to resources.
‎
‎During the seminar, presentations from Chinese representatives centred on localising AI solutions to fit Zambia’s unique social and economic context, as well as forging partnerships with Zambian schools to introduce AI curricula at university level, ensuring that the next generation of Zambian innovators is equipped with home-grown, relevant expertise.
‎
‎SMART Zambia Institute remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships that promote digital inclusion, innovation, and skills development. We will continue working to ensure that no one is left behind as our nation advances towards a digitally empowered future.

I officiated this year's Lubiinda Ntongo Traditional Ceremony of the Kaonde people of Kalumbila district, and I commended Chief Mumena and the Kaonde people for preserving our rich heritage.

This year's theme, "OUR CULTURE IS OUR WEALTH," reminds us that culture drives unity, development, and prosperity.

Government remains committed to promoting cultural tourism and youth participation.

‎It is a great honour to lead the Government delegation here in Kalumbila District and to be guest of Honor as we join His Royal Highness Chief Dr Mumena and the people of the North-Western Province in celebrating the Lubiinda Ntongo Traditional Ceremony.
‎
‎This year’s ceremony is particularly significant as it presents an opportunity for us to reflect on our rich cultural heritage and the role it plays in our national development agenda. We remain resolute in our commitment to preserving our traditions while advancing the digital transformation agenda.
‎
‎Accompanying me on this important occasion are North-Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr Luckson Mulumbi, the District Commissioner, and other senior Government officials.
‎
‎The Lubiinda Ntongo ceremony is not just a cultural event but a platform for fostering social cohesion, economic development, and peace.

It was an honour to represent Zambia at the 2026 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum in Xi'an, China—a gathering of over 800 digital leaders from 50+ nations, all united by a shared vision: building a connected, inclusive, and secure digital future.

🌍 THE DIGITAL SILK ROAD IS MORE THAN INFRASTRUCTURE
It's an ecosystem of ideas, innovation, and opportunity. For Zambia, this means:
