For the past two weeks, I’ve had the privilege of being in Kigali, Rwanda, representing Zambia and Nutriva Foods & Farms at the Africa Youth Agrifood Academy (AYAA) 2026. 🇿🇲🇷🇼🌍
What began as an opportunity to learn has become a much deeper journey of reflection, exchange, relationships and understanding Africa’s agrifood systems.
Over these two weeks, I’ve engaged with young farmers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, researchers and leaders from across the continent. I’ve gained new perspectives on how continental agricultural commitments translate into action, how trade and markets shape our food systems, and what it takes to create an environment where young people can build sustainable agribusinesses.
As someone building Nutriva from the ground up in Zambia, these conversations have been especially meaningful. Farming and food production are only part of the equation. We must also understand policy, financing, value addition, trade, markets, technology and regional integration if Africa is going to unlock the full potential of its agricultural sector.
One thing I’m taking home with me is simple:
Young Africans are not waiting for the future of our food systems. We are already building it. 🌱🌍
I’m grateful for every conversation, connection, lesson and opportunity to carry Zambia’s voice into these important continental conversations.
Kigali has taught me a lot. Now it’s time to take the lessons home and put them into action. 🇿🇲
More reflections to come.
