INFLATION DROPS TO 6.6% — ZAMBIA’S ECONOMIC PROGRESS AND NKANA’S FUTURE UNDER UPND LEADERSHIP
Zambia continues to record steady economic progress under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, reflecting strong macroeconomic management, discipline, and a clear focus on stability and growth.
In May 2021, inflation stood at 23.2%, a situation that severely affected the cost of living, reduced purchasing power, and discouraged investment in the economy.
Today, that story has changed. Inflation has reduced to 6.6%, comfortably within the 6%–8% target range. This achievement reflects enhanced fiscal discipline, effective debt restructuring, coordinated economic policy, and restored investor confidence in Zambia.
Foreign Direct Investment has also improved significantly, rising to $2.36 billion in 2024 from $650 million in 2023, showing renewed trust in the Zambian economy.
This progress is the foundation upon which constituencies like Nkana must continue building.
Nkana Constituency deserves leadership that aligns with this national transformation agenda leadership that is focused, development-oriented, and people-centered.
That is why Francis Mukuka, UPND aspiring Member of Parliament for Nkana Constituency, stands ready to support and strengthen this development momentum by ensuring that Nkana fully benefits from national progress through improved service delivery, youth empowerment, education, and economic opportunities.
Zambia needs continuity, stability, and proven leadership at both national and constituency level to sustain and expand these gains.
