🔥 FROM SESHEKE TO A NEW PARLIAMENTARY MANDATE: THE POLITICAL JOURNEY OF ROMEO KANG’OMBE 🇿🇲

NORTHERN TV | POLITICAL PROFILE

Few political journeys are defined by persistence quite like that of Romeo Kang’ombe.

Born on 27 December 1987, Kang’ombe is a Zambian businessman and politician who has built his political career within the United Party for National Development (UPND). Parliament records his educational background as a Grade 12 certificate and a Diploma in Customs Declaration and Taxation.

🏛️ THE JOURNEY TO PARLIAMENT

Kang’ombe first entered Parliament through the Sesheke Constituency in 2019, representing the UPND.

Following the 2019 election, his victory was challenged in court. The Lusaka High Court ultimately declared him duly elected, with the court finding that the will of the people had prevailed.

He successfully returned to Parliament after the 2021 general election, again representing Sesheke on the UPND ticket.

His parliamentary career has included participation in committees dealing with energy, water development, tourism, media, information and communication technologies. He also served as Chairperson of the Committee on Energy, Water Development and Tourism.

🌍 A NEW POLITICAL CHAPTER

The 2026 general election brought a major change to the political map of the area.

The former Sesheke constituency was divided, creating Sesheke East and Sesheke West.

Kang’ombe contested Sesheke East on the UPND ticket and secured a fresh mandate. Current post-election listings identify him as the UPND Member of Parliament for Sesheke East.

🇿🇲 HIS VISION FOR SESHEKE

Following his swearing-in on 8 September 2026, Kang’ombe said the creation of Sesheke East had given him a fresh mandate to continue delivering development to his people.

Reflecting on his previous parliamentary term, he pointed to progress in the health sector, including the construction of 17 maternity annexes. He also said classrooms had been constructed in almost all schools in the area, with three schools still requiring attention.

He further highlighted improvements in access to markets and said the increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) would provide greater capacity to address remaining challenges.

💪 FROM POLITICAL SURVIVAL TO DEVELOPMENT

Kang’ombe's political story is not simply about winning elections.

It is also about surviving political challenges, defending electoral victories and returning to the people for a renewed mandate.

His transition from representing the wider Sesheke constituency to representing the newly created Sesheke East constituency presents a new test.

The question now is whether he can turn his experience in Parliament into tangible improvements in health, education, markets, infrastructure and community development.

🔥 THE ROAD AHEAD

At just 38 years old, Kang’ombe enters another parliamentary chapter with several years of legislative experience behind him.

He has already served in Parliament, chaired a parliamentary committee and represented his constituency through two previous electoral cycles.

Now, with a new constituency and a fresh mandate, the spotlight is firmly on him.

Can Romeo Kang’ombe turn his experience into an even stronger development record for Sesheke East?

That is the story of the next five years.

🔥 FROM 2005 TO PARLIAMENT: THE RISE OF TREVOR MWIINDE SIALUNGA 🇿🇲

NORTHERN TV | POLITICAL PROFILE

Some political journeys are built overnight. Others are built through years of loyalty, sacrifice, mobilisation and persistence.

The story of Trevor Mwiinde Sialunga is one of a politician who spent years working within the structures of the United Party for National Development (UPND) before eventually making the transition from party mobilisation to elected national leadership.

Mwiinde joined the UPND in 2005, at a time when the party was still in opposition. Over the years, he worked through the party structures and rose to become one of the party's prominent youth leaders.

He later served as UPND Deputy National Youth Chairperson responsible for Politics and Mobilisation, putting him at the centre of political mobilisation and youth engagement.

💪 HIS MESSAGE TO THE YOUTH

One of the strongest themes associated with Mwiinde's politics has been his call for young people to prepare themselves for leadership.

His message is simple but powerful:

Young people should not only be used to fill political rallies—they must be prepared to sit at the decision-making table.

He has encouraged youths to acquire skills, build economic independence and position themselves for leadership in government, politics and business.

👩🏽 SUPPORTING WOMEN IN POLITICS

Mwiinde has also spoken against practices that allegedly exploit women seeking political opportunities.

He has called for women to be recognised on the basis of their ability, qualifications and leadership potential, while encouraging mentorship and stronger support systems for women in politics.

🏛️ FROM MOBILISER TO MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT

The biggest milestone in Mwiinde's political journey came in 2026, when he became the UPND candidate for Choma South.

He was declared duly elected after going unopposed during the nomination process, marking his transition from party leadership into elected parliamentary office.

His journey is therefore one of a grassroots political organiser who eventually found himself occupying a seat in the National Assembly.

🇿🇲 A NEW CHAPTER

Now that he is in Parliament, the expectations are much higher.

The question is no longer simply how well Trevor Mwiinde can mobilise people for a political party.

The bigger question is:

How will Trevor Mwiinde use his parliamentary position to transform the lives of the people of Choma South and contribute to Zambia's national development?

His supporters see his rise as proof that patience, loyalty and hard work within political structures can eventually lead to leadership at the highest level.

His critics, meanwhile, will be watching his performance closely.

One thing is certain: Trevor Mwiinde Sialunga has entered a new chapter of his political career.

From joining UPND in 2005…

To youth mobilisation…

To national party leadership…

And now Member of Parliament for Choma South.

🇿🇲 THE JOURNEY CONTINUES.
