SMM ON THE GROUND IN MOOIDRAAI

Today, SMM is in Mooidraai, taking practical action to grade and improve local roads.

Our communities cannot continue to live with unsafe, damaged and neglected roads while residents struggle daily with access to homes, schools, work and basic services.

This is what SMM stands for: visible action, community service and practical solutions where our people need them most.

We will continue working with communities, listening to their concerns and responding with action.

Day 1 progress in Heilbron, Phiritona is officially underway.

Today marks the start of our third SMM Visibility Campaign mural as we continue building a stronger presence in communities and taking our message directly to the people. Step by step, wall by wall, we are making SMM visible, active, and present on the ground.

This is more than paint on a wall. It is a sign of growing momentum, community connection, and our commitment to taking the SMM message to every corner of Metsimaholo and beyond.

Today at Zamdela Hall, SMM hosted a meaningful Sports Arts and Culture sector engagement meeting with members of our community, sector representatives, volunteers, and concerned residents.

The session created an important platform for open dialogue, where people shared their views, challenges, ideas, and practical solutions for building a better Metsimaholo. We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate, speak honestly, and contribute to the work of shaping a people-centred programme of action.

SMM believes that real change starts with listening, organising, and working together with communities on the ground.

SMM is now inviting committed, suitably skilled individuals from the Metsimaholo community to put themselves forward for appointment to the SMM Board (the highest decision-making body of the Movement).

We are building a Board that reflects the community it serves, grounded in integrity and fully accountable to the people of Metsimaholo.

DAY ONE: VAALPARK TAXI RANK PUBLIC TOILETS RESTORATION INITIATIVE

At Vaalpark Taxi Rank, we identified a sad and unacceptable reality: our family members, commuters, taxi operators, informal traders, workers, learners, and community members who use this area daily have been subjected to appalling and non-functional public toilets.

We have not only raised the issue. We have taken an initiative to address and fix the facilities.

Day One: Security gates were installed to ensure that vandalism does not continue and that the work to restore these public toilets can be protected.

This is about dignity. This is about public health. This is about taking practical steps to improve the spaces our people use every day.

We believe that communities must not wait forever for change. Where we can act, we must act.
