A short while ago, just before our Cape winter really set its teeth, Southern Parrot Sanctuary was blessed with the assistance of an incredible man, Tyrone Blommestijn, of Duroplastic.
We were in the process, little by little, of building a new aviary for our Ecclectus parrots, but had hit a snag with running short on funds for roofing.
We had phoned a few companies to obtain quotes for roof sheeting, and had ended up speaking to a sales person at Duroplastic, who suggested we chat to Tyrone.
Fast forward to a few weeks later - Tyrone had come out to SPS to take some measurements, and before long he was there one sunny Sunday morning with a load of roof sheets and tools!
Without a backward glance, Tyrone put shoulder to wheel...
We have the most beautiful roof on our Ekkie aviary, thanks to Tyrone! It didn't stop there - when he overheard us speaking about how waterlogged the ground got there in winter, several lengths of drainage pipes were added to the roofing delivery... for the first time in many years, the Lapa Triangle where the aviary is built, is no longer waterlogged. Thank you Tyrone, and Duro - we at SPS deeply appreciate your support and kindness - we will never look at our aviary roofing without thinking of you and saying a little silent prayer of thanks!
