On the occasion of the 51st Death Anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day, the All Africa Awami League organized condolence meetings and prayer sessions in Welkom, South Africa; Chimoio, Mozambique; and São Paulo, Brazil.
The programs were organized to remember and pay tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation and the greatest Bengali of a thousand years, and all the martyrs of August 15.
Sheikh Hasina, President of the Bangladesh Awami League and daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, addressed the programs as the chief guest.
Dr. Lutfor Rahman Rupon, President of the All Africa Awami League, and Abdul Awal Tansen, General Secretary of the All Africa Awami League, were present in person as special guests at the Welkom program in South Africa. They also joined the programs in Chimoio, Mozambique, and São Paulo, Brazil, virtually and addressed the gatherings.
Leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations were present at all three venues.
In the discussion sessions, speakers remembered Bangabandhu’s long political struggle, his leadership during the Liberation War, and his contribution to the freedom and independence of Bangladesh. They also called for upholding the ideals of Bangabandhu and continuing the struggle for a prosperous Bangladesh.
The programs concluded with special prayers and Munajat seeking the eternal peace and forgiveness of Almighty Allah for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the martyrs of August 15.
