Good morning, residents.

Please be advised that there will be a delay in refuse collection in the following areas today:

• Kabega Park
• Van der Stel
• Parsons Vlei

The delay is due to a tyre puncture on the refuse collection vehicle.

NB: As soon as the tyre has been repaired, the collection team will be dispatched to continue with refuse collection.

A PERSONAL MESSAGE TO THE RESIDENTS OF WARD 12

Dear Residents of Ward 12,

It is with great pride, gratitude and humility that I share some very special news with you.

I have been officially announced as the Ward 12 candidate for the Municipal Elections on 4 November 2026.

For me, this is about far more than an election. It is about the people of Ward 12 and the community that I have had the privilege of serving and standing alongside. Over the years, we have been through a lot together.

We have experienced water outages that left households without a basic necessity, power outages that disrupted our homes and businesses, infrastructure problems, damaged roads, stormwater issues, cable theft, service delivery frustrations and many other challenges that residents have had to deal with.

I know how frustrating it is when you turn on the tap and there is no water. I know the frustration when the lights go out and you don't know when the electricity will return. I know the anger when residents report the same problem repeatedly and feel that nobody is listening.

But through all of this, you continued to speak up.

You contacted me. You sent me photographs and videos. You told me about the problems in your streets and neighbourhoods. And where I could, I raised those issues, followed them up and pushed for answers.

Not every problem could be fixed immediately. Sometimes the challenges were bigger than a ward councillor. But I have always believed that silence is not an option when residents are suffering.

I have tried to be a voice for Ward 12 not only when things are going well, but especially when they are not.

I have seen the strength of our residents. I have seen people come together during outages, help their neighbours, report problems and refuse to give up on our community.

That is what motivates me to continue.

Being announced as the Ward 12 candidate is an honour, but it is also a responsibility. I know that trust must be earned every day. I know there is still much work to be done, and I am not going to pretend that all our problems will disappear overnight.

But I can promise you this:
I will continue to listen. I will continue to speak up. I will continue to ask the difficult questions. And I will continue to fight for the issues that matter to the residents of Ward 12.

Our community deserves proper service delivery. We deserve reliable water and electricity. We deserve safe and maintained public spaces, functioning infrastructure and a municipality that responds to its residents.

Most importantly, we deserve to be heard.
Thank you to every resident who has supported me, challenged me, encouraged me, sent me a message, stopped me in the street or simply said, “Thank you for standing up for us.”

Those moments have meant more to me than you know.

The road ahead will not always be easy, but I believe in Ward 12 and I believe in the people who call it home.

This campaign is not about me. It is about us.
It is about what we have been through, what we have achieved, and what we still need to do together.

On 4 November 2026, I humbly ask for your support to continue representing you and being your voice in Council.

Residents of Ward 12 we have been through a lot together. Now let's continue the fight and 🇿🇦

Good day Residents,

I would like to update you on the ongoing delays in refuse collection across our communities.

At the recent Public Health Committee meeting, I requested an explanation from the Municipality regarding the poor refuse collection service.

The Director of Public Health confirmed that a number of refuse trucks have been out of service, many for relatively minor repairs such as brake replacements. The reason these repairs were delayed was because there was no maintenance contract in place for the servicing of the municipal fleet.

The good news is that this issue has now been resolved and the necessary contract is in place. The affected trucks can now be repaired and returned to service.

However, the Municipality is still operating with a reduced number of refuse trucks while these repairs are being completed. This means that delays in refuse collection may continue for a while longer until the fleet is fully operational.

I understand the frustration this has caused and will continue to monitor the situation closely, hold the administration accountable, and push for refuse collection services to return to normal as quickly as possible.

I will continue to keep you informed of any further developments.

Kind regards,

Cllr Vernon Boggenpoel
Ward 12 Councillor

Water Update – 22 July 2026 | 17:50

Good evening Residents,

Current reservoir levels:

The system is recovering, and based on the latest information, everyone should have their water supply restored by tomorrow morning.
