✨ Do I Really Need A Doula? . .

It is a question many pregnant women quietly ask themselves . .

Perhaps you have heard the word “Doula” before, but you are not entirely sure what her role is.

Perhaps you already have a partner, a doctor, or a midwife, and you wonder whether having another support person is truly necessary.

The gentle truth is this - A Doula is not there because you are unable to Birth without one. A Doula is there because pregnancy, Birth, and the early postpartum season are deeply emotional, physical, and transformative experiences and you deserve to feel supported through them. 🌸

A Doula offers continuous emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after Birth. She helps you understand your options, prepare for the Birth you hope for, and feel more grounded when the unknown begins to feel overwhelming.

During pregnancy, a Doula may help you explore your Birth wishes, ask thoughtful questions, understand what to expect, and feel more confident in your Body and your choices. 🤍

During labour, she becomes a calm and steady presence. She may offer breathing support, comfort measures, gentle reassurance, position suggestions, encouragement, and emotional grounding. She supports not only the Mother, but often the partner too, helping them feel more involved, more confident, and less alone in the process.

A Doula does not replace your partner.

She does not replace your doctor or midwife.

She does not make decisions for you.

Instead, she holds space for you.

She reminds you that your voice matters.

She helps you feel informed rather than overwhelmed.

She offers tenderness when things feel intense.

She brings calm into the room when fear begins to rise.

For many women, having a Doula is not only about Birth itself. It is about feeling seen in one of the most vulnerable and powerful seasons of life.

It is about having someone who remembers the woman behind the Birth Wishes.

Someone who understands that Birth is not only clinical, but also emotional, sacred, and deeply personal.

And when your Baby has arrived, a Doula can continue to support you as you adjust to the softness, exhaustion, beauty, and tenderness of postpartum life.

Because Mothers need holding too. 💞

So, if you are pregnant and unsure whether you “need” a Doula, perhaps the question can gently shift from . .

“Can I do this without support?”

to

“How would it feel to be deeply supported through this?” . .

You were never meant to walk through this season feeling alone.

Birth is about welcoming a Baby into the world - But it is also about caring for the Mother in her becoming. 🤍

⚪️ As we approach Father’s Day this coming Sunday, we take a gentle moment to honour the Fathers and Father figures who show up with presence, tenderness, patience, and love.

A Mother may carry the Baby, but she was never meant to carry the whole becoming alone.

The support of a Father can be one of the quietest, yet most powerful forms of love within a family. It is not always loud. It is not always seen. It may not always look grand or extraordinary. But it is deeply felt.

It is felt in the hand held during labour.

In the meal made without being asked.

In the water bottle quietly refilled.

In the Baby held so that she can shower, rest, or simply breathe.

In the gentle words spoken over a tired heart.

In the willingness to learn, listen, and grow alongside her.

When a Father supports the Mother, he supports the Baby too.

A Mother who feels supported often feels safer. A Mother who feels safer can soften. And when she softens, the whole family is nourished by that sense of calm, connection, and care.

Fatherhood begins long before a Baby is placed in a Father’s arms. It begins in the way he shows up during pregnancy, in the way he listens to her fears, in the way he stands beside her during Birth, and in the way he chooses patience during the tender and often overwhelming days of postpartum.

Support does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it is the most simple acts that mean the most.

It may look like protecting the atmosphere around her.

Choosing a calm tone.

Creating a peaceful space.

Handling the dishes, laundry, nappies, messages, or visitors without waiting to be asked.

Learning the Baby’s cues.

Checking in with her heart, not only her Body.

Asking, “What feels heavy today?” . .

Or gently saying, “I’ve got this,” and truly meaning it.

These small, steady acts remind a Mother that she is not alone.

The role of a Father is not to have all the answers. It is not to do everything perfectly. It is not to fix every emotion or take over every responsibility.

It is to be present.

To be willing.

To be gentle.

To be attentive.

To honour the Mother’s intuition.

To share the invisible load.

To become part of the circle of care.

With Father’s Day appoaching, we honour the Fathers and Father figures who understand that love is not only shown in what they provide, but in how they are present.

In the quiet check-ins.

In the steady hands.

In the protected rest.

In the emotional safety they help create.

In the way they support the Mother as deeply as they love the child.

To every Father, partner, and Father figure who is learning, softening, protecting, nurturing, and showing up in both the seen and unseen ways; Your presence matters.

Your tenderness matters.

Your patience matters.

Your willingness matters.

And to every Mother who has been supported in these quiet ways, may you be reminded that being held while you hold everyone else is not a luxury.

It is part of the care you deserve.

🤍 🙏🏻 👨🏻 ✨ 🤎 . .

🤍 Imagine if every Mother heard this first . .

That it’s OK to hold your Baby for as long as you need.

That it’s OK if they fall asleep on your chest.

That it’s OK to feed them to sleep, to share a room, to give in.

It’s OK to kiss them constantly,
for them to cling to you,
for them to need you deeply -
and for you to need them too.

Just hold your Baby.
Skin-to-skin them.
You cannot spoil a Baby.
You are their survival.
All they want is you.

Doula your Babies.
Hold them close. You are doing it beautifully. 🤍

✨ The “Golden Hour” is often spoken about in Birth spaces, but many Mothers are never fully told just how meaningful this first hour after Birth can truly be.

The Golden Hour refers to the uninterrupted time immediately after Birth where Mother and Baby remain skin-to-skin whenever safely possible.

During this time, Baby is placed directly onto the Mother’s chest, allowing both to rest, regulate, connect, and transition together after labor.

While it may appear simple from the outside, there is so much happening here, physically, emotionally, hormonally, and neurologically.

During skin-to-skin contact, Baby is able to hear the familiar rhythm of the Mother's heartbeat, regulate Body temperature more effectively, stabilize breathing and blood sugar levels, and begin instinctive feeding behaviors. Mothers, too, often experience hormonal support through oxytocin release, helping with bonding, emotional connection, breastfeeding, and even recovery after Birth.

But beyond the science, there is something deeply human about protecting this space.

Birth is not simply a medical event.

It is a profound transition.

A Mother has journeyed through intensity, vulnerability, strength, surrender, and transformation. A Baby has journeyed from the safety of the womb into an entirely new world. The Golden Hour allows both to meet one another gently before the noise, interruptions, and expectations of the outside world begin.

🎀 And, each and every single Mother deserves to know that . .

You are allowed to want uninterrupted time with your Baby.

You are allowed to ask questions.

You are allowed to include your Birth Wishes and preferences.

You are allowed to advocate for calm, connection, and informed care.

Of course, every Birth unfolds differently, and sometimes medical support must take priority. But when circumstances allow, protecting the Golden Hour can be incredibly grounding and beneficial for both Mother and Baby.

There is no “perfect” Birth.

There is only your experience, your voice, your Body and your Baby.

And every Mother deserves to feel informed, supported, and gently held through it all. 🤍

From PCOS to PMOS: A More Accurate Reflection for Women’s Health 🤍

In May 2026, an important and deeply meaningful shift began taking place within women’s health conversations, as the term Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) started transitioning toward a more accurate and representative name: Polymetabolic O***y Syndrome (PMOS).

For many women, this change is about far more than terminology, it is validation.

For years, the name “PCOS” centred heavily around ovarian cysts, despite the fact that many women diagnosed with the condition do not actually present with cysts on their ovaries. This often led to misunderstanding, confusion, delayed diagnoses, and the minimisation of symptoms that extended far beyond reproductive health alone.

The term PMOS better reflects what medical professionals and researchers have increasingly recognised over time - That this condition affects far more than the ovaries. It can impact metabolic health, hormones, inflammation, insulin regulation, emotional wellbeing, skin health, energy levels, fertility, and overall quality of life.

This shift acknowledges the deeply layered experiences so many women have quietly carried for years.

If you are navigating PMOS, please know this gently. .

Your Body is not failing you.

Bodies communicate in many different ways, through fatigue, irregular cycles, inflammation, skin changes, mood fluctuations, pain, anxiety, cravings, or simply the quiet feeling that something within your Body does not feel right.

Yet, so many women are taught to normalise their symptoms, minimise their discomfort, or continue pushing through silently.

But persistent symptoms should never be ignored.

It may be worth considering professional support if you have been experiencing symptoms such as irregular or painful menstrual cycles, excessive fatigue, difficulty managing weight, acne, hair thinning, increased facial or Body hair growth, bloating, insulin resistance, fertility concerns, or ongoing hormonal and emotional fluctuations - Especially if these symptoms have persisted for months or continue worsening over time.

Listening to your Body is not overreacting.

Seeking answers is not weakness.

And advocating for your health is an act of self-respect.

A more accurate name cannot erase the journey many women have walked, but it can create space for deeper understanding, earlier intervention, gentler support, and more compassionate conversations moving forward.

You deserve to feel heard.

You deserve support.

And you deserve care that sees the full picture of your health. 🤍

🩷 Today, we celebrate every kind of Mother. .

The women who give endlessly through love, nurturing, guidance, sacrifice, patience, softness, and strength.

The ones who hold families together in quiet ways that often go unseen.

To the Mothers in every season - New Mothers, experienced Mothers, grieving Mothers, hopeful Mothers, Grandmothers, StepMothers and the women whose care naturally nurtures those around them. . You are deeply valued and appreciated. 🌸

May today be a gentle reminder that your love matters more than words could ever fully express.

And may we all take a moment to lighten the load for all the beautiful Mothers we love, not only today, but often. Sometimes the smallest acts of care become the most meaningful.

Happy Mother’s Day. 🤍

Yesterday, on the 5th of May, we honoured the International Day of the Midwife - A day dedicated to recognising and celebrating the incredible Midwives who support, guide, nurture, and advocate for Mothers and Babies through one of life’s most sacred journeys. 🤍

Midwives do far more than assist in Birth. They provide emotional support, reassurance, education, advocacy, and compassionate care throughout pregnancy, labour, Birth, and the postpartum period.

They stand beside women in moments of vulnerability and transformation, offering calm, wisdom, strength, and safety every step of the way.

As a Doula, it is such a privilege to work alongside remarkable Midwives whose dedication and gentleness continue to inspire me deeply. 🩷

Thank you for the countless hours, the emotional labour, the nurturing hands, and the unwavering commitment you pour into caring for Mothers, Babies and families.

The role of a Midwife is truly invaluable. Midwives help Mothers feel heard, informed, respected, and empowered throughout their Birth journeys. They carefully monitor the wellbeing of both Mother and Baby, provide essential guidance and education, support physiological Birth where safely possible, and continue offering care long after Birth has taken place.

Their work is deeply holistic and profoundly meaningful. 🌸

Midwives do not simply help bring Babies into the world, they help bring Mothers into themselves, with tenderness, courage, and care that echoes far beyond Birth.

Behind so many safe Births, comforted Mothers, and welcomed Babies, is the quiet strength of a Midwife.

We honour and deeply thank you for the care, compassion, wisdom, and love you bring into the world every single day. 🤍

✨ Today, we pause in quiet gratitude for the hands and hearts that carry the world forward.

Worker’s Day is more than a moment of rest - It is a gentle acknowledgment of dedication, resilience, and care in all its forms.

And within the Birth space, this gratitude feels especially profound.

To the Doulas, Midwives, Doctors, Nurses, and every soul who stands beside new life as it enters the world. .

Your work is deeply sacred.

You hold space in moments of vulnerability, strength, and transformation.

You witness beginnings with compassion and presence.

You remind us that care is not just a profession, but a calling.

Today, we honour not only the work that is done, but the love that is poured into it.

With appreciation, always. 🤍
