RA**ST IN SEED FORM
Ps Marvel Netshivhungululu
If you are born again like me, you will agree that indeed Jesus came to establish the Kingdom of God. You know that we are the preservation (salt) of this world, meaning that who we are and how we do things keeps this world from decay. Every Kingdom has rules, standards, and a way of doing things. The standards that Jesus introduced are elevated to the standards that are generally accepted in our global society.
So what is r**e according to the standards of our Kingdom? How is it judged? What is the biblical definition of r**e? What happens in the heart of an individual who ends up being a ra**st, or ends up violating someone s*xually?
Before unpacking those answers, I just want to state that although I’m aware of it, I have not included the external influences like the open availability of the p**n industry, gender inequality, and many other negative social influences that contribute towards the happenings in our community.
Jesus said it so plainly in Matthew chapter 5:28 The Passion Translation “28However, I say to you, if you look with lust in your eyes at the body of a woman who is not your wife, you’ve already committed adultery in your heart.”
The Aramaic meaning of the underlined sentence is speaking of more than adultery with a married woman; it uses the word for any s*x act outside of marriage. Jesus elevates the standard of righteousness right there. In the same way that hating your brother and being ANGRY at them is murder in seed form, (Matthew 5:21-22) looking lustfully at someone who is not your wife is equated as adultery in seed form. Jesus says you have already murdered in your heart. You have committed adultery in your heart.
R**e, murder, and all the things we loathe in our society begin in seed form in the human heart. Kindly take a moment to think about this sentence.
If you look at someone who is not your wife or husband, you have committed adultery in your heart. If you look at someone who is not your wife or husband, you are a ra**st in seed form! James chapter 1:15-16 reminds us of this truth, that “15evil desires give birth to evil actions. And when sin is fully mature it can murder you! 16So my friends, don’t be fooled by your own desires”
The human heart is designed to produce everything that is in the heart (Proverbs 4:28). You might think that it is an innocent look, or a harmless thought, however according to Jesus’ standards; you have begun the process of producing something terrible from your heart. Inasmuch as it is not okay to abuse, r**e, murder, it is also not okay to allow such thoughts to be cultivated in our hearts. Infact, when we look at it through the eyes of scriptural truth, it is fatal. We need to refuse such thoughts with the same uproar that we have for someone who has been found to have forced himself on someone.
