Shirley’s Shoelaces
Ps Marvel Netshivhungululu

Allow me to share a short clip that the Holy Spirit showed me in the theatre of my mind as we were discussing the things of life and spending some much needed reflective quality time.

There was a good hearted lady named Shirley who loved life and enjoyed wearing sneakers. She was smart and intelligent and the epitome of a good example in her community. She had this silly habit since her early teens of forgetting to tie her shoelaces properly, however apart from that, she was an awesome person. We all have our minor faults, and Shirley’s mom would constantly be on her case about her laces. Needless to say, she would trip over her shoelaces a few times a year but nothing fatal…

One day, as she was at a local mall, she climbed on to the escalators going upwards to the next level. Her shoelaces got stuck in the escalators just before she could jump off to the next level. Subsequently her foot got stuck and by the time the mall marshals switched off the emergency stop button at the bottom end of the escalator, her leg and foot were bleeding out, and things were fatal. It was a chaotic violent scene with multiple people affected.

There are some small things within our characters that might seem mundane, things that we know are wrong yet we ignore them on the basis of how harmless we reckon they are. Those small things in our character that we trip over from time to time, despite the Holy Spirits repeated warnings. The same way Shirley treated her shoelaces.
It is those “small things” that are often fatal when one is transitioning or being elevated to a higher environment! There are some character ticking time bombs (good or bad) that get activated as you inevitably move on up in life, that you will not be able to get away with while transitioning to another level.

Song of Solomon 2:15-17 TPT “You must catch the troubling foxes, those sly little foxes that hinder our relationship. For they raid our budding vineyard of love that I’ve planted within you. Will you catch them for me? We will do it together.”
Perhaps there are some things you need to tighten up in your character and walk with God. Are there any ticking time bombs in your character that you need to detonate?

Let he who has ears hear what the Spirit is saying.

RA**ST IN SEED FORM
Ps Marvel Netshivhungululu

If you are born again like me, you will agree that indeed Jesus came to establish the Kingdom of God. You know that we are the preservation (salt) of this world, meaning that who we are and how we do things keeps this world from decay. Every Kingdom has rules, standards, and a way of doing things. The standards that Jesus introduced are elevated to the standards that are generally accepted in our global society.

So what is r**e according to the standards of our Kingdom? How is it judged? What is the biblical definition of r**e? What happens in the heart of an individual who ends up being a ra**st, or ends up violating someone s*xually?
Before unpacking those answers, I just want to state that although I’m aware of it, I have not included the external influences like the open availability of the p**n industry, gender inequality, and many other negative social influences that contribute towards the happenings in our community.
Jesus said it so plainly in Matthew chapter 5:28 The Passion Translation “28However, I say to you, if you look with lust in your eyes at the body of a woman who is not your wife, you’ve already committed adultery in your heart.”
The Aramaic meaning of the underlined sentence is speaking of more than adultery with a married woman; it uses the word for any s*x act outside of marriage. Jesus elevates the standard of righteousness right there. In the same way that hating your brother and being ANGRY at them is murder in seed form, (Matthew 5:21-22) looking lustfully at someone who is not your wife is equated as adultery in seed form. Jesus says you have already murdered in your heart. You have committed adultery in your heart.

R**e, murder, and all the things we loathe in our society begin in seed form in the human heart. Kindly take a moment to think about this sentence.

If you look at someone who is not your wife or husband, you have committed adultery in your heart. If you look at someone who is not your wife or husband, you are a ra**st in seed form! James chapter 1:15-16 reminds us of this truth, that “15evil desires give birth to evil actions. And when sin is fully mature it can murder you! 16So my friends, don’t be fooled by your own desires”
The human heart is designed to produce everything that is in the heart (Proverbs 4:28). You might think that it is an innocent look, or a harmless thought, however according to Jesus’ standards; you have begun the process of producing something terrible from your heart. Inasmuch as it is not okay to abuse, r**e, murder, it is also not okay to allow such thoughts to be cultivated in our hearts. Infact, when we look at it through the eyes of scriptural truth, it is fatal. We need to refuse such thoughts with the same uproar that we have for someone who has been found to have forced himself on someone.

Galatians 6:7-8 The Message

"Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life."
